Also how many do you know with the name?

Idris is slowly becoming a favourite.

I like Idris and Mathias. I know two Mathias-es, both of whom are Mat-EYE-us.

In German it's Mat-ee-yus. Mateusz (Polish) would yield the A vowel sound in the middle.

I've only ever met 2 welsh men named Idris. The sudden popularity is almost certainly because of the actor. It's ok though.
I know 2 people called Matthias - one is Mat-ee-as, the other Math-eye-as. Some people will insist on using the other version. Maybe I just know strange people but someone else insisted on calling Anthony Anth-ony when he said it Ant-ony, she was right everyone else was wrong.

Matthias is by far the best on your list.

My first thoughts pretty much match @MikeUniformMike exactly. I'm sorry I really don't like any of them, I really don't like Rico but if I had to choose I'd say idris

What is your background, OP? I quite like all of these names but I would find it a bit weird if, for example, Dave and Sarah Smith from Manchester with no hispanic connections whatsoever called their son Emilio.

I love Mathias, I'd pronounce it as Matt ay us. I like Idris too but its very tied to Idris Elba imo.

Love Idris, it’s on my list too Smile. I like all of the others apart from Emilio. I prefer Matteo to Matthias though.

Yes to Idris and Mathias-I think of Idris being Welsh and Elba,
Mathias is a really European name have known a German and an Italian..,both really good guys so had a positive vibe for me!
Really nice and can be Matt/Mattie nickname

My Playmobil people have an Idris and a Matthias. But no Rico or Emilio yet...

I picked DS1 name at 15 weeks(frantically searching for girls name just incase). I find out in 3 days.

Mathias is unusual here, I've never met one.

Idris - like.
Emilio - okay, not my style.
Rico - i reeeeeeeeeaally don't get the appeal. I just think of some 2-dimensional gangster in a Z-list movie.
Matthias - very nice, travels well. Prefer ma-tie-uss to ma-tay-uss pronunication but it is still nice. Pronunciation not really an issue, takes 2 seconds to correct someone if necessary.

Don't get upset over names - you don't even know the gender yet! Focus on something else for a while. :-)

I don’t know anyone with any of the names. Really like them all except for Rico. Matthias is lovely but will get shortened to Matt which ruins it a bit for me!

Rico makes me think of "Uncle Rico" from Napoleon Dynamite.
Great movie. Character was cringe-worthy

I love Idris, know one who I've known since childhood... he's late 30s now.

Rico I only know as short for something e.g. Federico. It means rich or delicious/tasty in Spanish. Not keen.

But you need to choose what you like not random ppl on the internet but I really hate Rico due to bad experience with a black labrador.

I have my scan on Wednesday. Gut feeling says a girl but I need to options if it's a boy.
