Is there a theme to your children's names?

My two girls are named after my two grandmothers (the older one changed slightly to the Irish spelling as her dads Irish and was pushing for an Irish name) and I love it, it made them both very happy and they're beautiful names that mean something to all of us. Will make it tricky naming number 3 though as DH's grandmother is called Bertha which I just couldn't do to a child

@CourtneyLurve my twin boys both have biblical names, I’m naturally attracted to Hebrew boys names. My little girl I guess has a variation of a virtue name which is vintagey, retro and feminine, so not quite the same stylistically but I feel they sit together nicely. Sometimes I think it’s more about how things sound together, I.e not jarring, than necessarily having exactly the same root source or The exact same style. That much is definitely something I considered when choosing, how they would sit together, Christmas cards etc, but I didn’t want to be bound by a rigid ‘theme’ as I feel that way they can become lost Individually and it all becomes contrived.

Middle names are after female relatives who meant a lot to us... (And coincidentally, they made sense for both families, helped by my dad having about 20 Aunts).

No obvious link between the first names, unless 'names we like' is a theme! Although DD born in Germany has a Scottish name that is unpronounceable in many European countries, and our English born child has a name that travels well.

Unintentionally, both are two syllables and start with a vowel. DH has pointed out we have one named the same as a famous scientist and one is a mythological character so next time he wants a famous artist!

Mine have Irish first names.

We have 4 DSs. They all have Celtic names (DH is Scottish) and they're all short: 4 or 5 letters, which is handy when I write our Christmas cards

Start with same letter and sound similar. E.g. Christopher and Crystal (not their names!)

Agonized over DC2 but the only other name we liked had become a fad. So I have cringey matchy names for my kids if you say them together.

I figure it won't matter as they will have their own friends and lives

My 3 turned out to have 5 letter, 2 syllable names. Unintentional for the first two but impacted my naming of the third.

Our first 2 have unusual old testament names and nature middle names so there is a theme but wasn't intentional!

I think we'll be breaking the mold with baby no.3 though ;)

Not with first names, but they both have names linked to Elizabeth in their (well dd2s first and middle name are both linked)

Isobel and Lillian. Not an obvious link

No theme as such, but very aware that with giving DS1 such an unusual name it couldn't be followed with a sibling called Emily or Thomas.

Our DC have/will have noun based names, opposed to typical forenames but again I'm obviously aware that these aren't for everybody

Long with short nicknames is the theme in our house. We have a one syllable surname. Dd1 is 4-4 syllables dd2 is 3-3. Each with 2 sylabble day to day nicknames eg Rosie

All my kids bar one have surnes as first names.I didn't do it delibrate.Its just I really liked those names.
