Looking for a classic name for James' little sister to be.
Comments welcome. I like these two and underused I think?

Juliet is on my list should I ever have another one.

Aclh13 · 24/05/2020 08:44

Julia, I'm fairly young and up until recently I would have preferred Julie but I feel its quite harsh and people might shorten it to Julie which is outdated, Julia seems quite pretty

Loo see ah as softer sounding I think

I like Julia but I agree that for a child Juliet sounds preferable. Would you be pronouncing Lucia loo chee a or Loo see a ? and I know girls with both pronounciations.

daisypond · 24/05/2020 08:37

No. Names that fit grown-ups are good. Julia suits all ages. I know a Julia and three Juliets. The Julia is 30s. Two Juliets are 50s, one 30s. So, if anything, Juliet is the middle aged name.

32thistimelastweek julia sounds mellifluous? Wow had to look that word up but love the idea of Julia being a sweetly melodic name.

42Singingatmidnight says Julia could be seen as middle aged yhough- thoughts anyone?

Julia. We used it as a middle name - it's a great middle name with almost anything!

downtheplug · 24/05/2020 05:33

Juliette

ElizabethMainwaring · 24/05/2020 03:37

I once knew a little Juilita.
She was Polish and lovely.
I prefer Juliet to Julia. To me Julia sounds middle aged. No offense, I am middle aged!

FollowYourOwnNorthStar · 24/05/2020 03:09

Juliana

(Rhymes with banana)

Edenember · 24/05/2020 02:57

Another vote for Juliet

PetraRabbit · 23/05/2020 23:59

Julia is so pretty. It's grander and more feminine. Juliet has a more serious, studious feel to it.

mistermagpie · 23/05/2020 23:59

Juliet was on my list for DD, I love it. Maybe it's my accent but I can't seem to pronounce it more than one way - Julie-et is how it sounds.

Julia is lovely too, I've never met one but I know a few Julie's!

Fishfingersandwichplease · 23/05/2020 23:49

Got a friend called Julia - she hates being called Julie and you know if she doesn't like you cos if you call her Jules she will correct you! Classic name though. Think Juliet will always have the spelling issue - Juliet or Juliette?

123Dancewithme · 23/05/2020 23:38

James and Julia sound great.

thistimelastweek · 23/05/2020 23:32

Julia. Say it out loud. It's mellifluous.

SwedishEdith · 23/05/2020 23:30

Julia. Definitely timeless.

Ellmau · 23/05/2020 23:28

Both lovely, but I would prefer Julia.

Or Juliana.

justlooking1 · 23/05/2020 23:26

But never Jules!

Juliana

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 23/05/2020 23:21

Juliette by a country mile

missingmum · 23/05/2020 23:18

Julia love it, beautiful name and although I'm too old for another baby Julia would definitely be the name I'd choose.

justlooking1 · 23/05/2020 23:16

Had a couple of good friends called Julie but no offence to any Julies here- it just doesn't seem as timeless as my other two choices.

OP posts:
loriat · 23/05/2020 23:14

I like both, but Juliet would be my preference.
