I think it has a really pretty sound. It’s classic, quite international and has a nice meaning, but is it too dated? Could you imagine it on a baby born in 2020?

My dd name , I love it obviously
She is 32 . She had a few classroom friends with the same name but I have t heard it in younger children lately .
It doesn’t date imo , it’s both a girls and a woman’s name . It’s not cutesy , it’s beautiful and classy .

It does sound dated to me OP. Sara less so. Agree that it would be a bit like calling a child Sue or Linda when I was a child at school. I remember there being a Beverley at school in the 90’s/00’s and none of us could understand why she had such an old fashioned name. Sarah isn’t quite in that league but it’s not far off either.

Classic/timeless to me would be Elizabeth, Helen, Beatrice

Sarah sounds in the same bracket as Angela, Joanne, Becky, Karen etc

I have a 16 year old Sarah, she loves her name and doesn't think it is old fashioned.

Nice, go for it. Although more popular in a previous generation, it fits in with lots of currently fashionable names (short, two syllables, ends in A), so I don't think it will sound too dated.

I think people these days would be pleasantly surprised to hear of a baby Sarah. It's an underused classic and must be due a revival. Lovely name.

Think Colin and Sue are dated but Philip is quite a classic name.
I see Sarah as more like Elizabeth or James type names - classic rather than dated. It was top 100 for years and years so there must be some in each generation.

Everyone will be like "that's my 45 year old mums name" 🙈
Whereas a name like Emma or Sophie (and I appreciate you may not want a name so popular) will be the names of other people their own age as well as the name of some parents

I think it is a nice name and it would be refreshing for our generation to hear it on a baby.

But putting yourself in the position of the next generation, it might sound very uncool and mumsy as all their mates "uncool" mums, aunties dinner ladies are all called Sarah and Becky. Do you know what I mean? She'll be the only sarah in the school probably but will share her name with half the mums. I remember at my school in the 80s there was a Colin, a Philip and a Sue. All rare names for our age group but I felt sorry for them as they all had the names of our parents

I'm one and when I was at school there were loads (80s kid) but it not used now so I'd say go for it if you like it.

It's nice and I don't think it's dated, but it's just too popular for me. I know it's not popular now, but because it was sooo popular for a time, I must know about 40 Sarah's. They're all adults, but still a no from me.

I have a 2010 Sarah (dd1) and my 2015 dd2 has 2 in her p1 year

I know two young Sarahs (teenagers) but no babies. It's a beautiful, classic name. I can imagine it suiting a young child very well and it ages nicely, i.e. it suits little girls and women.

Yes, I find it dated - very 80s/90s. I prefer Sara, but with that comes pronunciation issues.

A lovely classic name. my colleague's daughter is sarah and when he told us the name, lots of people said what a nice timeless name it is, also used in lots of other languages and cultures
