This is a preliminary list of names that I like before even showing it to DP as I would also like some suggestions from everyone on here. These aren't the only names I like but just some of my favourites

Harper
Ocean
Lilac
Astor
Scout
Blaze
Greer
Indigo
Bali
Fallon
Holland
Tatum
Ace
Brighton
Lumen
Teal
Halston
Collins
Gage - Biggest guilty pleasure ever I don't even know why

Really open to suggestions and everyone's comments on them

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Courtney10891 · 22/05/2020 22:54

Fallon is my sisters name, I thinks it lovely.

Don't listen to some of these comments. They have probably named their children something really original like Chloe or Sarah 😂x

Bubbletrouble43 · 22/05/2020 22:54

I'm afraid I only like Scout and Greer, but I like them quite a lot. I would whittle the list down by seeing which goes best with your surname.

Carrie7469 · 22/05/2020 22:52

They're all dreadful. Really, really dreadful

Adelais · 22/05/2020 22:50

Indigo and Lilac are ok. I think most girls would hate to have those names - a lot of them are very masculine sounding. Think about your future child.

Blursula · 22/05/2020 22:49

Some other suggestions based on your list:

Briar
Fenn
Magenta (I know one and it really suits her)
London (if you like a place name!)
Bluebell
Dusty
Raven
Aubrey
Autumn
Lux
Wren

Blursula · 22/05/2020 22:44

Harper and Scout I like. Lilac is okay. The rest I think are awful. I’m not against places as names but Brighton just doesn’t work...

LotusClover · 22/05/2020 22:40

This is a joke, right? Surely no one is actually considering saddling a child with these names... Blush

Miriel · 22/05/2020 22:38

Lots of these are awful, sorry. Indigo, Harper and Ocean are the only ones that I think are usable for a girl, and they aren't really to my taste.

Would you really name a girl Brighton, Halston or Collins? If someone was introduced to me by one of these I'd assume it was their surname.

Smellbellina · 22/05/2020 22:33

I thought it was spelt Blaez, or is that just for boys?

BrandoraPaithwaite · 22/05/2020 22:33

All terrible. (You did ask us to judge. )
Harper is too trendy and will date terribly but is the only vaguely OK name on your list.

tiptoe22 · 22/05/2020 22:30

I dislike most of them, immensely.

Apart from Harper Which I do like. The rest are just ridiculous. Imagine yourself with one of these names. Or try it out in real life - next time you're in Starbucks and they ask for your name use one of these and gauge how it feels. (Gauge 😜).

Did you go through a dictionary and pick out your favourite words?

Smellbellina · 22/05/2020 22:30

There was a thread on here recently with the name Lumen Hmm

BubblesBuddy · 22/05/2020 22:30

Blaze is usually spelt Blaise. Greer Garson was a 30s British actress so that’s ok. Tatum
O’Neal is a well known actress of course. Lilac is a flowering shrub but not great as a name.

As for the others, I think there would be laughter in the staffroom when DD goes to school. You could put several of these names together and have a real laugh. Brighton Ocean or Teal Ace!

BikeRunSki · 22/05/2020 22:27

Lumen is the SI unit for light intensity

MeMeMeYou · 22/05/2020 22:25

I think we have different tastes so none really float my boat. Astor prob best for me.

sweetnosugar · 22/05/2020 22:23

Harper is lovely!

OnYourMarksGetSetBAAAAKE · 22/05/2020 22:23

Lumen is a metabolism app & also a dating website.

Gage is a device used to make measurements.

Are you drunk OP?

masonmason · 22/05/2020 22:21

So much negativity!!

Well yes. The names are awful. Well deserved negativity.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 22/05/2020 22:21

Indigo is ok.
Aster like the plant rather than Astor is also ok.
Maybe Ocean. At a push.

The rest, well, your title is judge my girls names and I’m afraid I am.

user1493494961 · 22/05/2020 22:18

Bloody awful.

percheron67 · 22/05/2020 22:16

Dear God! I imagine this is a joke? The names sound like the equine inhabitants of our local riding school. Especially Blaze and Scout. I think this sort of name is known as a "Ghetto" name in America.

I do wonder why, if people are so keen on weird names, they don't adopt one themselves and give their poor infant something less remarkable.

WhiteWriting · 22/05/2020 22:15

Honestly? With the exception of Lilac they are all rather common and/or too American.

Blueelephant2020 · 22/05/2020 22:12

I have an adult female relative called Blaise (Blaze) and it suits her perfectly and every one loves her name, she is a professional person.

Cosyblanky · 22/05/2020 22:12

I know two Harper's in the same class. I know an Ocean who hated her name and changed it. I think Lilac is pretty but know people pronounce it differently, sometimes emphasising the Lac sometimes not.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 22/05/2020 22:08

Harper. Meh, it's fine.
Ocean. I really like, hippy but who cares.
Lilac. A very pretty colour name.
Astor. This sounds too masculine to me. Perhaps Astoria? Though not sure if that has an actual meaning given "Waldorf Astoria"
Scout. Cute literary reference
Blaze. Too try hard
Greer. Just sounds ugly to me, like sneer
Indigo. Pretty like lilac, and actually I prefer it
Bali. People will assume they were conceived here.
Lumen. It's a unit of measurement and reminiscent of a Harry Potter spell...
Holland. Again, conceived there.
Tatum. Not a fan, sounds like you are trying to use a name from another culture (assuming you are white British)
Ace. I agree with PP that this seems like a boys name.
Brighton. Again, reads as place you DTD
Fallon. Only makes me think of Jimmy Fallon.
Teal. I like all the colour ones, this included.
Halston. Again, DTD there.
Collins. My least favourite of all. Do not like at all. A boring surname.
Gage. I feel this is also v masculine.

I'd go with one of the pretty colour names or ocean
