Hi, we’re due baby number 2 in September, I know that’s a few months away but we are really struggling to agree on names, please rate the following!

Girls:
Aliona
Briony
Georgianna
Zoe
Winter/Winnie (has same initial as dd1 which I’m not keen on but love the name)
Inés/Inéz

Boys:
Jude
Noah
Jasper
Oliver
Ezra
Henry
Thomas

Either:
Logan - this is sentimental as we began dating whilst visiting mount Logan, he loves it for a boy but I prefer it for a girl!

TIA

I like for a girl Briony or Georgianna
For a boy Noah, Thomas, Logan

EveryoneLoves09876 · 23/05/2020 12:11

Logan on Gilmore Girls of course!

Just don't use Jude if you have any German heritage.

Ikeameatballs · 23/05/2020 11:57

I like all of your boy names. I think Jude probably has the edge over the others for me but none that I wouldn’t genuinely say “what a lovely name” about if I heard it in rl.

I really don’t like Aliona, it sounds like some sort of brand name for a fat substitute to my ears.
The rest are lovely and I think that Winter goes nicely with Wren but not sure about using it on a baby that’s born in Autumn.
Of the others I think that Briony and Zoe go best with Wren.

Dyra · 23/05/2020 11:52

Cursed fat fingers!

To me, Logan is a definite boy's name. I (indirectly) know a guy Logan. Then there's YouTube star (and all around douche) Logan Paul, and the guy who played Percy Jackson in the films. And of course there's Logan's Run. Nothing wrong with using it as a middle name for either sex though.

Dyra · 23/05/2020 11:43

Of your girl names, I like Briony and Zoe. Briony is a standout name and is my definite preference. In fact I'm thieving it for future use.

Of your boy names, the only one I don't like is Henry. Nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me. All the rest are lovely and would definitely feature on a boy's name list of my own. My favourite of the list is Jude, followed by Noah and Jasper.

Yearcat13 · 23/05/2020 11:25

Jude and Bryony

That’s some mixed answers, thank you. We’re going to ask my sister (the only family member we want to involve). Hopefully we’ll be able to narrow it down by September.

If anyone can think of any names we might like please suggest, we still can’t agree on any so far.

Winnie is my absolute favourite.
All your boy names are lovely, can’t decide. Would say that Jude is my least.

123Dancewithme · 22/05/2020 20:43

I like Inez and Jasper

Foals · 22/05/2020 20:37

If your DD is Wren (lovely) then I do think Winter is nice, I wouldn't mind about the same initial thing, but you'd have to give a middle name I guess to differentiate between the two W names. Not keen on Winnie though, it feels a stout-sounding kind of name without much charm about it. (just my opinion on a name though, I'm sure there are plenty of charming Winnies in person!)

I think Briony also goes well with Wren, to me Briony is a nature type name and makes me think of Briar Rose from the fairytale (in a nice way!)

Zoe I don't see as going that well with Wren, but it's still a nice name.

Jude goes really well with Wren, as does Jasper.

Really not keen on Logan. Only my personal experience, but I've met a few and they were pretty naughty and their parents let them be... I'm sure there are lots of lovely Logans out there though.

ilovepuggies · 22/05/2020 20:34

When and Jude go really well. I love the name wren it’s beautiful.
All your girls names are ok. I love sorrel, they would both be nature names?

MooseBreath · 22/05/2020 20:18

Aliona - 2 - Spelling will be tricky and unsure of pronounciation
Briony - 1 - This name grates on me because of how it's said in my accent (it rhymes with 'whiny')
Georgianna - 3 - Quite a mouthful
Zoe - 7 - Solid name
Winter/Winnie - 1 - Season, not a name
Inés/Inéz - 5 - People won't know how to pronounce this

Boys:
Logan - 4 - Better as a boy name, but a bit preppy
Jude - 7 - Good name, not too common
Noah - 6 - I'd feel like I was constantly saying 'No'
Jasper - 9 - Love it
Oliver - 7 - Great name, far too popular
Ezra - 8 - Great name
Henry - 2 - Can only hear it as shouted by Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz...very grating
Thomas - 6 - Meh

MikeUniformMike · 22/05/2020 19:14

I'd go with Inès.

MikeUniformMike · 22/05/2020 19:12

Aliona - is it a name from Strictly?
Briony - a bit Brian-y
Georgianna - no. Georgina is ok
Zoe - yes
Winter/Winnie (has same initial as dd1 which I’m not keen on but love the name) - not sure
Inés/Inéz - is the accent right?

Boys:
Jude - no
Noah - no
Jasper - not sure
Oliver - yes
Ezra - no
Henry - yes
Thomas - favourite

Either:
Logan - this is sentimental as we began dating whilst visiting mount Logan, he loves it for a boy but I prefer it for a girl!

Definitely not. OK as a middle name

justanotherparent1810 · 22/05/2020 19:06

EveryoneLoves09876 I don’t want to use it for a boy because the boy Logan’s I knew had a bad reputation but the one girl Logan I’ve met is lovely, whereas dp doesn’t like it for a girl but loves it for a boy and we’d rather completely agree on a name

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 22/05/2020 18:37

Aliona or Ines.

EveryoneLoves09876 · 22/05/2020 18:36

rate the following!

Girls:
Aliona - alioli
Briony - not a fan as knew one
Georgianna - also prefer one n but like
Zoe - not too keen
Winter/Winnie - cute! Short for Winsome though or something other than winter unless she was born in winter.
Inés/Inéz - how do you say this one?

Boys:
Jude - love
Noah - overused 'moment' name
Jasper - love
Oliver - boring
Ezra - will age and no
Henry.- no
Thomas - no

herecomesgeralt · 22/05/2020 18:31

I've rated out of 10

Girls:
Aliona - 1. Reminds me of areola

Georgianna - 6 but prefer Georgiana

Winter/Winnie - 5. Like Winnie but dislike Winter
Inés/Inéz - 6.

Boys:
Jude - 1. I hate the sound of it, don't know why!
Noah - 6
Jasper - 5
Oliver - 8
Ezra - 5

Thomas - 8

bridgetreilly · 22/05/2020 18:14

In order:
Briony: Pretty, works well with Wren.
Zoe: Also nice.
Georgianna: Usually spelled Georgiana. Seems a bit too much for me, especially compared to Wren.
Aliona: Awful pro dancer on Strictly. But other than that, okay.
Winter/Winnie (has same initial as dd1 which I’m not keen on but love the name): I hate this, both Winter and Winnie.
Inés/Inéz: Not unless you're Spanish.
Logan: Not a girls name.

In order:
Jasper: I love this
Noah: A
Oliver
Ezra
Henry
Thomas
Jude
Logan: Well, it's better for a boy than a girl.

LadyEloise · 22/05/2020 18:06

Logan for boy or girl

LotusClover · 22/05/2020 17:59

Aliona - don't like
Briony - prefer Bryony
Georgianna - will constantly get misspelt as Georgiana
Zoe - love
Winter/Winnie - love (only if she is actually born in winter though, otherwise it's just wrong)
Inés/Inéz - wouldn't have a clue how to pronounce

Jude - love
Noah - quite like
Jasper - strongly dislike, too modern and childish
Oliver - too popular
Ezra - too popular
Henry - boring
Thomas - boring

Logan - love for a boy, don't like for a girl

justanotherparent1810 · 22/05/2020 17:47

Should have mentioned dd is Wren

  4. Jude
  5. Thomas
