Hi

Quite like the name Fenn for my newborn daughter.

When i googled it, it seems to be a boys name. Does anyone know girls that have that name - i'd never heard of it till my friend suggested it ( and reassured me it was a girls name!) and since then it has kind of grown on me.

So is it a unisex name or will my daughter hate me forever for giving her an unusual boys name?? Lol

It is a beautiful name and cool too.

Go for it.

bestlifetime · 23/05/2020 17:13

Nope from me, but I like it as a boys name. Fern would be better. Or Wren ( trendy unusual I liked this but my DH wouldn't go for anything unusual) ? Or Jen even ?

Lavenderblues · 23/05/2020 17:10

Fenn is feminine. Fen looks unfinished.

BeMorePacific · 23/05/2020 16:14

I only know one male Fenn. But it does have a feminine sound to it. I like it xx

SheWranglesRugRats · 23/05/2020 12:22

I know a female Fenn.

CurlyEndive · 23/05/2020 07:02

I would spell it Fen, as I think Fenn is too similar to Finn.

Zillaindie · 23/05/2020 07:00

I know of a Fen who is an adorable, feisty 4 year old. At first I really didnt like it but it has grown on me.

Lavenderblues · 23/05/2020 06:58

Definitely a girls name. Short for Fenella.

LizzieAnt · 23/05/2020 06:52

Fin or Finn are occasionally used for girls as short forms of Fionnuala/Finola.

IVflytrap · 23/05/2020 01:35

Not keen. If I heard it, I don't think I could separate it from "fen" meaning marsh (as in The Fens).

How about Fenna? It's a Dutch name. Or Fenella as someone mentioned upthread? Fiona?

Or even Finn, which I think could work on a girl (admittedly I'm probably swayed by a book I read a few years ago with a female character in it called Finn).

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2020 22:49

It's nice, simple and pretty.

Carrie7469 · 22/05/2020 22:41

I've never heard of but I think it's horrible

FartnissEverbeans · 22/05/2020 22:39

Ooh I’ve never heard it before but I quite like it

Whatsyourflava · 22/05/2020 15:13

I'm not keen as everyone adds an "ie" or "y" on the end of all names these days so it will be Fennie or Fenny. Fanny basically.

Afolnerd · 22/05/2020 15:10

There is a tv show called the magicians which has a female character called Fen.
I hadn’t heard it before but I really like it.

MaggieFS · 22/05/2020 15:06

I know a female Fen, short for Fenella and think it's lovely.

Cyclebird · 22/05/2020 15:03

It's my middle name. It was my granny's maiden name. I rather like it and I've never met another one.

We had listed Fenia (or Fenya) as a possiblity for our DD, it made our top 5 but we chose something else once she was born.

Jasmineben · 22/05/2020 14:57

It’s awful sorry. Too blunt sounding and it just isn’t nice sounding at all

winniesanderson · 22/05/2020 14:55

I know of a female Fenn. Though I think she may have an e on the end. It's really grown on me.

LizzieAnt · 22/05/2020 13:34

Finn is a name for boys usually. Might it get confused with that? I like it though.

NuffSaidSam · 22/05/2020 13:22

It's the name of the little girl who wrote the 'dinosaurs in love' song.

That's the only Fenn I've ever heard of.

lottiegarbanzo · 22/05/2020 13:10

Might people confuse it with Fern? Seems quite likely.

PaquitaVariation · 22/05/2020 13:10

The only Fenn I’ve ever known is a girl. It’s pretty.

PowerStruggle · 22/05/2020 13:06

I know a little boy Fenn, but think it’s cute for either

lottiegarbanzo · 22/05/2020 13:05

Sounds like it's short for something - Fenella?
