What’s your favourite baby girls name?

Hiya! I know name threads are frowned upon but I had a baby girl over 24 hours ago and we still have no name.

We had hoped that with our short list when she arrived we would just know what’s right but instead we don’t like anything we have chosen.

I don’t like flowery to girly names, I like names that our child won’t be ashamed to write on her cv at 21 so no ‘angel’ sorry to those who have that.

I really like Brinley but my partner isn’t a fan and he likes everlyn which I don’t like as I feel it’s an old ladies name 😂

Any favourite names?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I loveee Nancy, that's what we planned to call this baby but have just found out it's a boy!

CeibaTree · 21/05/2020 11:01

Tabitha/Cordelia/Penelope?

I'm sorry I think she would be ashamed to put Brinley and Everlyn on her CV aged 21 as those are quite bizarre choices, particularly the misspelling of Evelyn. Congratulations on your new daughter :)

Congratulations too!

Is Everlyn a typo OP? Is it meant to me Evelyn? That's lovely. . Sorry but don't think much of Brinley . It just has an odd sound about it. I think it reminds me of Brine. Personally I like very classic names as they don't date .

BruceWilllis · 21/05/2020 07:38

Congratulations! Name threads aren't frowned upon don't worry!

Brinley isn't to my taste and Everlyn looks like a misspelling of Evelyn so I don't think anyone would want to write that on their CV. Granny chic very popular at the moment.

These aren't my favorite names but similar feel to Brinley for me..

Brooke
Everly
Harper
Piper
Blair
Erin

My favourite name is my nieces name - Phoebe

I think unfortunately both Brinley and Everlyn are names a child would be ashamed to have on their Cv as neither seem like “proper” names. Brinley sounds like a town and Everlyn looks like a misspelling of Evelyn.

I think some of my favourite names would be to feminine for your liking but some suggestions would be;

Imogen
Astrid
Iris
Briony
Bethan
Megan
Tess
Honour
Heather
Robin
Hadley
Madison
Emmeline
Roberta (nickname Bobbie)
Georgia or Georgina
Harriet
Verity

Roselilly36 · 21/05/2020 07:12

Felicity is my favourite girls name, means Happiness.

whattodo2019 · 21/05/2020 07:10

Xanthe
Harriet
Matilda
Cressida

Chinchinatti · 21/05/2020 07:08

You'll find the perfect name - don't worry.
Baby Chinchinatti didn't have a name for 3 days and the nurses kept pressuring me for a name, so she now has a name that I think she likes too.

Chinchinatti · 21/05/2020 07:05

My two favourite names, you wouldn't use, but ones I considered but were dismissed were

Africa
India
Cassidy (surname of my first love, so that was ruled out)
Aifric (Africa in Irish)
Doireann (pronounced DIRREN)

BlackKittyKat · 21/05/2020 07:01

Nancy and Margot

Weekday28 · 21/05/2020 06:57

At the moment my favourite is Jessie.
