I love Edith because it was my Granny's name and I loved her very much. She was quite sophisticated and glamorous.

BeMorePacific · 23/05/2020 17:41

Edith was my top girls name. But my best friend used it. It really suits her daughter. Love it xx

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 23/05/2020 17:23

I love it - both Edith and Edie. It was my grandma’s name: she would have been 116 this year, so I think it’s a very old ladies’ name.

Viletta · 23/05/2020 17:18

Love it!

worstwitch18 · 22/05/2020 12:06

I didn't used to like it but it grew on me and now I love it.

Embarrassingly that might be due to Downton Abbey!

Pleasenodont · 22/05/2020 11:55

I like it, little Edie.

HappyDinosaur · 22/05/2020 11:49

Beautiful and classy.

Edenember · 22/05/2020 11:47

Gorge, my daughters middle name is Edie after my nan who was Edith but always called Edie. Sometimes wish I’d used the ‘Sunday best’ version but I didn’t because she was never known as that.

LondonTowers · 22/05/2020 11:00

Thanks all.
Love Edie as a nn too :)

My little three year old niece is called Edith! She's gorgeous too. She was always going to be Edith and I have to admit, at first I wasn't sure (although obviously never said anything!) Now I couldn't imagine her as anything else. It's adorable and there are no other Edith's at her nursery.

lettersbyowl · 22/05/2020 10:25

I love it! Was on my list but DH said no!

bridgetreilly · 22/05/2020 10:19

Lovely. Could be Edie as a nn.

SnowdropFox · 22/05/2020 10:12

I really like it too. The first one that popped into my head was from The Walking Dead. She was a great character!

123Dancewithme · 21/05/2020 23:41

I really like it

AudTheDeepMinded · 21/05/2020 13:14

Brilliant, firm fan of old style names here. Our short list for a girl included Maud, Cordelia, Nancy and Martha!

DoraemonDingDong · 21/05/2020 13:12

I love Edith. DH doesn't and we compromised on Meredith.

LondonTowers · 21/05/2020 13:08

Thanks!

I think its sweet too, and I love historical names, I associate it with the Nurse Edith Cavell. I dont really think of old ladies as I've personally never met an old lady Edith (or a young lady Edith for that matterSmile) and I meet a lot of old ladies on the wards where I work!

I know a little Edith. So cute!

Whatsyourflava · 21/05/2020 09:52

Adore it!!! One of my favourites.

FourPlasticRings · 21/05/2020 09:35

I really like it but DH says no. Sad

Orphlids · 21/05/2020 09:33

Our neighbour is a little Edith. She’s about five. It really suits her. She’s quite an earnest little thing, clever and inquisitive. Her parents are both teachers. I wouldn’t choose it myself, as I find it maybe a little prim. But I certainly don’t think it’s horrible. Quite a pleasant sound.

doodlejump1980 · 21/05/2020 09:25

I have a little Edith in my class. It’s very cool.

emmathedilemma · 21/05/2020 09:23

Love it!

KoalasandRabbit · 21/05/2020 01:23

It wouldn't be my choice but it would be fine. Edith I think of is Edith Piaf.

whatausername · 21/05/2020 01:04

Like. It fits with the current old lady trend and is one of those worthy of revival imo.
