A bit of a mixed bag, but it's what we've come up with so far.

Jean - There isn't anything 'wrong' with it but I don't like it.
Sadie - Very nice
Rebekah - Its ok
Deborah - No.
Gretel - No.
Zoe - Its nice.
Naomi - I don't like.

Aclh13 · 20/05/2020 00:31

Jean ❌ all I think of is "sausage surprise!" for anyone who gets that quote
Sadie✔️ very pretty name
Rebekah❌ too common
Deborah❌ outdated
Gretel❔not sure prefer Greta
Zoe✔️ sweet short name
Naomi✔️ fairly uncommon and classy

123Dancewithme · 20/05/2020 00:04

I like Jean, Deborah and Rebekah best.

whatausername · 19/05/2020 22:49

Sad Sadie - dislike.
Zoe - it isn't a very nice sound plus every Zoe I've known has been a right twit.
Rebekah - perfectly okay but never more than okay. It's still suffering from being used to death in the 90s.

Jean - like but some will think it old or plain.
Deborah - fine, is it still dated? Perhaps. I like it though.
Naomi - like.
Gretel - used to be a comedy name round here (like when you name a pet Hortensia or Terrance) buuuut it's rather growing on me and it is a little ahead of the upcoming trend of "harder" sounding names.

Dontneedhomework · 19/05/2020 18:55

Jean - don't like. Dull
Sadie - love, pretty but strong
Rebekah - ok, I like this spelling but I suspect it is a lifetime of correcting people
Deborah - don't like at all. TOo 70s
Gretel - I'm not a fan though I know this is popular on this board
Zoe - I really like this. Again pretty but strong
Naomi - it's ok, I'm not a big Biblical-names fan

littlealexhorne · 19/05/2020 18:35

I like Rebekah best out of your list, but I think it looks much nicer spelt Rebecca. Sadie would probably be my second choice.

BrandyandBabycham · 19/05/2020 18:20

Not keen on any of them tbh - sorry OP

pinkpinecone · 19/05/2020 18:02

Deborah feels like a very 50s/60s and Debbie even more so

adellaranger · 19/05/2020 17:50

I like Deborah (hate Debbie though) and Sadie

Pemba · 19/05/2020 15:20

Jean is very plain and still quite dated to my ears. I'd prefer Jane really (more classic).

Gretel feels like she has wandered in from a fairy tale, quite a harsh sound too.

I like all the others. Favourites would be Zoe (beautiful) or Deborah, which has a lovely sound but I don't know if I'd be brave enough because a lot of people are just going to automatically say 'dated'.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 19/05/2020 15:04

Jean - A bit drab
Sadie - don't like
Rebekah - prefer the other spelling but Ok
Deborah - dated and very dull
Gretel - my favourite. Really sweet.
Zoe - nice
Naomi - nice

Pygmyseahorse · 19/05/2020 14:17

Naomi :)

Though mispronounced often, even if you clearly pronounce it someone will parrot back with the wrong pronunciation!

WildCherryBlossom · 19/05/2020 14:12

I like Naomi and Sadie best. Prefer Greta to Gretel.

pinkpinecone · 19/05/2020 14:09

That is a real mixed bag, OP.

I like the Naomi and Sadie best from your list and Zoe is ok.

I do actually also quite like Gretel - was this inspired by the sound of music? - but I think it sounds a little bit twee and childish because of Hansel and Gretel, so perhaps it's open to silly teasing.

How about Greta instead? I think it's nicer and not as unusual.

I'm not keen on the others at all especially with the k spellings. They look quite dated.

userabcname · 19/05/2020 14:02

The only one I like is Zoe. The rest sound a bit "midde aged librarian" to me.

user1493494961 · 19/05/2020 14:00

Rebekah is quite nice but dislike this spelling. Naomi is OK, not keen on the others.

littlejalapeno · 19/05/2020 13:52

Naomi is my fav from your list, all a bit dated though imo

pilates · 19/05/2020 13:52

I only like Sadie

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2020 13:49

I'd have Jean as a middle name and I don't like Gretel (not keen on that hard G sound) but the rest are nice.

user1477391263 · 19/05/2020 13:46

Jean and Gretel are lovely---I think they are different-sounding and quite cool.

Naomi is nice too.

Not mad on the others, but they aren't terrible.

peperethecat · 19/05/2020 13:21

Jean - quite like it, in a jolie-laide kind of way
Sadie - nice
Rebekah - nice name but I'm not keen on the short versions
Deborah - OK but a bit 1970s
Gretel - quite pretty but makes me think of Hansel and Gretel or the Sound of Music
Zoe - lovely
Naomi - lovely

MikeUniformMike · 19/05/2020 12:46

Jean - like it
Sadie - ok but I'm not keen
Rebekah - ok but I know so many
Deborah - yes if you don't mind Debbie
Gretel - different
Zoe - like it
Naomi - don't like it

AragornsManlyStubble · 19/05/2020 12:27

I actually prefer the Rebekah spelling personally.

Not a fan of Gretel, Jean or Naomi

Sadie is nice and Zoe and Deborah are ok.

Flappingflamingo · 19/05/2020 12:17

Love Sadie 💖 followed by Jean, in fact I think Sadie Jean sounds great together

Whatsyourflava · 19/05/2020 10:52

Jean - awful - horrible sound to it
Sadie - love it -- joint favourite
Rebekah - ok but spelling terrible
Deborah - nah hate the sound of the name has "bore" and "bra" in it. The Deborahs I know go by Debs
Gretel - I like Greta. Not sure on Gretel
Zoe - love love love - favourite
Naomi - dislike. Pronunciation issues. Hate the "nay" horsey sound at the start
