Despite trying to shorten my girls short list, another one has come into the mix tonight..... Caitlin.
Popularity has dropped significantly over recent years.
Would pronounce the anglicised way.... kate-lyn.
What do we all think?
Thank you x

It’s basically a mispronunciation of the Irish Cáitlín (Koyt-LEEN or Koytch-LEEN). The equivalent of calling your child Goo-ey instead of Guy or Wy-vonny instead of Yvonne.

Sorry I really don't like it, it sounds like two perfectly ok(ish) names meshed together to give the names some unnecessary added frill.
Kate and Lyn . Nah.

I love it, always have, even though it’s very popular. There are three in my ds’s class of 21 students.

I know of 2, different spellings but both lovely girls & 8 years age difference. Kaytlin & Caitlyn. It was a name I liked when expecting dd1 but dh vetoed.

If you’re going to anglicise the pronunciation you might as well anglicise the spelling! Catelyn or Katelyn. Otherwise say it properly.
