Shannon for a boy?

I'm 32 weeks, I am really rooting for this name but DP says it's a girl's name! I do get where he's coming from and I feel maybe at this point this name has the same problem as Ashley (also love but DP said it's a no from the start)

I do think Shannon paired up with a "boy" middle name could definitely be pulled off however I can't come up with a decent combination so convincing DP is proving to be very difficult now.

Please help xx

Definetly a girls name.... Having said that I know a man called Jade!

Not unless you want him bullied

It's just I don't think there is another name I like as much as this one and DP has a very average taste in names like Thomas, Callum, Daniel, etc and I feel they're just too popular and basic (no offense to anyone that loves these names, they're lovely but way too common)

It’s also an airport name. Sorry.

bluestarsatnightfall · 16/05/2020 18:53

No it's a girls name.

No not good.

Went to school with a big strapping New Zealander called Shannon - strangely no one ever commented on his name Grin

TildaTurnip · 16/05/2020 18:50

I think Shannon is similar to Hilary. It’s now too strongly associated with one sex.

PatchworkElmer · 16/05/2020 18:50

I wouldn’t, no.

Blursula · 16/05/2020 18:50

Strangely I know brothers called Ashley and Shannon, and so I’ve always seen them both as boys’ names!

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 16/05/2020 18:49

I wouldn't.
