Middle name will be my late mum's so that's taken, dh and I can only seem to agree on these names but can't decide between them, what to you think?

Penelope, I’d never just use Penny. I don’t like Jessica, it’s dated.

I am a Jessica and I absolutely hate my name, I loathe it. I convinced everyone in preschool and primary school that I only had one name (my middle name) and all my coursework only ever had my middle name on it, all documents and even awards I won only had my middle name because I went to great lengths to convince everyone that I was not a Jessica.

I would change my name if I could. I haven't only because it's so much trouble. My middle name has saved me as it's amazing and my absolute favourite and it's the only thing that has probably kept me sane. I would've had a horrible time if I had to live with only the name Jessica. I really don't know why I hate it so much but I do Confused

Just imagine how much I dislike it that I just wrote two paragraphs explaining it haha

Jessica Margot is beautiful.

Jessica is thus rare mix of being incredibly feminine but still upbeat/strong- always been one of my favourite girls/ women’s names around, it’s spike in popularity a few years ago still didn’t put me off.

Far more Amelias / Olivias/ Ellas around in my DDs age group (4).

nysnet · 13/05/2020 17:56

I like Penelope with the NN Penny.

glitterbiscuits · 13/05/2020 17:55

Jessica.
Penelope is sort of ok but not Penny

Penny the high court judge doesn't have a very good ring to it.

DollyParton2 · 13/05/2020 17:52

Jessica by a mile

NoSauce · 13/05/2020 14:51

Penelope with nn Nell is nicer than Penny. Jessica doesn’t go with Bertie.

IslayBrigid · 13/05/2020 13:33

I really don't like Jessica, I think it's just too common for my taste. I like Jessa though!

Penny is cute, also like Penelope

daisypond · 12/05/2020 19:48

Jessica. Not Penny. It’s a coin of little value.

peperethecat · 12/05/2020 18:43

I love Penelope but not Penny. Jessica is nice.

Crookshanksthecat · 12/05/2020 17:23

Decca is a cool nn for Jessica so it doesn't just have to be Jess or Jessie

Crookshanksthecat · 12/05/2020 17:22

I w always loved the name Jessica
Not keen on Penny or Penelope

Infamy · 12/05/2020 17:08

Penelope Margot is lovely but makes me think of The Good Life -
Penelope Keith = Margot Leadbetter. Not a bad thing from my point of view!!

ellenpartridge · 12/05/2020 16:30

Jessica Margot is lovely. Penny is quite nice too but prefer Jessica

cptartapp · 12/05/2020 16:16

Jessica
Love Erica more (similar?)

MikeUniformMike · 12/05/2020 16:09

Jessica

12345ct · 12/05/2020 12:53

Penny is so much nicer.

Edenember · 12/05/2020 12:44

@Flowerpot26 I like both, if you were to go with Jessica I’d just say make sure you are happy with the shortened forms because it’s one of those names where it will definitely happen whether you like it or not, and if you don’t that’s a lifetime of frustration. I personally like both Jess and Jessie but it’s whether you do.

Chinesetakeawaay · 12/05/2020 12:42

Jessica

123Dancewithme · 12/05/2020 12:41

Penny goes better with Bertie than Jessica does.

BelfastNonBlonde · 12/05/2020 10:46

Jenny

Flowerpot26 · 12/05/2020 10:45

Thanks everyone, still so unsure, my little boy is called Bertie which just suits him so much, I'm finding girls names so much harder which I didn't think I would

LotusClover · 12/05/2020 10:45

Jessica will definitely get shortened to Jess so if you don't like that you should go for Penny.

Ellmau · 12/05/2020 10:38

Jessica is beautiful. Not keen on Penny.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 12/05/2020 10:20

Jessica. Nothing wrong with Penny but Jessica is definitely due a revival and is one of those names that works for a baby, a child, a teenager, a grown up, an older woman. And I think Jessica Margot sounds beautiful.
