Lovely

ZebraKid71 · 11/05/2020 21:48

I love it. Buuuut the 2 I know get shortened to Maz which I think is awful so I'd never use it on that basis.

GirlCalledJames · 11/05/2020 20:59

Love it. Also love Marnie as a nickname.

Msfoxy17 · 11/05/2020 20:58

Love it. Wish we'd thought of it when we had DD..don't know why it never crossed my mind l,especially as it's very similar to DP's Polish grandfather's name. Feminine yet fairly uncommon.
Only issue for me would be Maz as potential nickname as not so keen on that..

MarieQueenofScots · 11/05/2020 20:53

Marianne is Marry-ann
Mary Ann is as it sounds

Toilenstripes · 11/05/2020 20:51

What’s different about the pronunciation of Marianne and Mary Anne? I thought it was the same but different spellings.

TobyDeLaris · 11/05/2020 20:45

Lovely

JustinMyJustin · 11/05/2020 20:44

Beautiful name. I was going to have it for one of my twins if I’d had two girlsSmile

Aclh13 · 11/05/2020 00:45

I have a cousin called mary anne I also know a marie, maria, maisie and a mari.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/05/2020 23:00

I think it's very pretty yet strong.

Jj2431 · 10/05/2020 22:59

Adore it. I wanted Marianne for my daughter but we are going with something else instead as OH didn't like it

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 10/05/2020 10:40

I don’t think mispronunciation will annoy me, I’ll just correct and move on. My surname is often mistaken for my first name and I can’t say that bothers me.

I have a Marianne (toddler age). It's a beautiful name IMO.
Some people do struggle to pronounce it correctly. She gets Mary Anne sometimes but in truth it's not very often.
She also occasionally gets Anne Marie which is slightly more baffling!

CruCru · 09/05/2020 19:00

I love Marianne (it was on my list). How much will it annoy you if someone pronounces it Mary-Anne or Marion? Because someone will.

saffy1234 · 09/05/2020 17:19

Beautiful I know an 11 year old Marianne and she is lovely xx

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 09/05/2020 17:14

Lovely - very underused and I could never fathom why....

Pemba · 09/05/2020 15:07

Douberry couldn't you have re-educated him?

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 09/05/2020 14:51

We’re pretty much set on it now I think.
Watch it be a boy and I have no clue about boys names I like!

Douberry · 09/05/2020 14:24

I love it. DH pronounces it as "Marian" not "marry-anne" so unfortunately we ditched it

Love it. I teach one and she goes by Mimi.

Pemba · 09/05/2020 14:19

Beautiful, sophisticated European name, not too common over here. Jane Austen /Rolling Stones /Leonard Cohen are the associations that come to mind. Oh and the classic children's book 'Marianne Dreams'.

midsomermurderess · 09/05/2020 13:40

Marianne Faithful is actually 'Marion' and it's apparently what Mick Jagger always and still calls her.

UtterFabulousness · 09/05/2020 09:53

Love the name Marianne!

babynamelover · 09/05/2020 09:02

I went to school with one :). I prefer Anneliese or Anika for longer forms of Anne but it's okay.
