Thoughts on the name 'Drake'?

Basically as the title says.

DH really likes this name. I like it too, especially the nature connotation, but I know that it is more unusual.

I have never met a Drake, only know it from a TV show called 'Drake and Josh'.

What do you think of this name? Would you think it was a bit 'out there' if someone you knew named their child Drake?

I'd just assume it was a surname-as-first-name (or a nickname for a little Draco, possibly with Harry Potter-crazed parents Grin). I don't really love the sound though - it seems a little harsher than Blake, Jake, or Lake to me.

It’s nice if you live somewhere where it’s pronounced Drey-ke. But if you live somewhere like Newcastle where the A would be pronounced flat then it sounds awful.

I have a Dracob, who sometimes goes by Drake or Drakie, he’s 10. Had no problems at all with his name.

Male duck. Never heard of the rapper. Vampire someone said??

There was one in Poldark ( Demelza's brother) and he was a good character - only one I've come across - but no, not really. It's a very harsh sound. No natural diminutives either.

I thought if the rapper straight away. But leaving that aside, I don’t think it’s too bad. I’ve heard much worse.

I don't get how calling a kid Drake is too duckish when people literally call their kids all sorts of word-nature-names like River, Robin, Sage, Holly. Holly is just a prickly Bush! 🙉

I think of ducks (not a bad thing for me) and Drake and Josh TV show way more than the rapper (I'm early 20s)

Also, male ducks are really not very nice - it's horrible to see them chasing after the females this time of year, and see the females with bald patches on their heads where the males have jumped on top to have sex with them (massive anthropomorphism I know.. but it makes me sad).
