Apricity for a girl

Found this word in the dictionary meaning the warmth of the sun on a winters day. Thinking it would make an excellent unusual girls name, particularly one born in the winter months. Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It's a lovely meaning but let me share this. My sister has a somewhat unusual name, most people mispronounce it or end up calling her something completely different.

It pissed her off all throughout school and as an adult she only ever goes by her (common, easy to pronounce) nickname.

It's a lovely thought, but just not practical.

IamEarthymama · 08/05/2020 10:39

welsh names for girls

mooching · 08/05/2020 10:39

Loving meaning, very harsh sounding word and doesn't flow well off the tongue. Sorry.

IamEarthymama · 08/05/2020 10:37

Apricity, sorry it does sound like an eco-power supplier or a facial product with Apricot kernels for abrasion.

I really love the meaning and also the Welsh name offered by a pp
Tesni sounds so lovely ☀️

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 08/05/2020 10:36

Tesni is lovely.

Apricity sounds like a utility company

IncrediblySadToo · 08/05/2020 10:34

You've muddled your books up!
You need a baby names book, not a dictionary!!

It sounds like a disease or condition.

RowenaRavenclawTheSecond · 08/05/2020 10:29

It sounds like an electric company, sorry!

NetofLemons · 08/05/2020 10:29

Tesni is a really pretty name. Never heard it before.

Boireannachlaidir · 08/05/2020 10:28

Thoughts? Shit thread alert.

AfterSchoolWorry · 08/05/2020 10:24

It's also a racist website. I wouldn't.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 08/05/2020 10:22

Awful, stop inventing names, poor child

PrincessHoneysuckle · 08/05/2020 10:20

I read that as April City.Nooo.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/05/2020 10:09

The should say "people to not think". I did know, because I was once on a thread with a poster who had Kate as part of her screen name and wanted to change it, and we came up with all sorts (CorusKate, ApriKate VaKate etc)

Chipperfish · 08/05/2020 10:08

sounds like a deodorant
Try Apricity - for all day freshness

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/05/2020 10:05

The verb is "apricate", she could go by Cate then. Grin

It had a nice meaning, but I don't think it's well-known enough for me to not think you've made it up (for example, Tiptoe wouldn't be a usual choice, but people know the word).

TimeWastingButFun · 08/05/2020 10:04

It does sound a bit like an electric company name...

walkingchuckydoll · 08/05/2020 10:00

Sounds like a disease to me. Sorry.

ohdannyboy · 08/05/2020 09:59

No sorry - she will spend the rest of her life spelling out to people.

riotlady · 08/05/2020 09:56

Sounds like a yoghurt drink Confused

noideaatallreally · 08/05/2020 09:53

That's rude - Tesni is a fairly popular Welsh name.

CaryStoppins · 08/05/2020 09:53

I like the meaning but did initially think you'd mashed April and Felicity together!

Maybe a good middle name though? Olivia Apricity or Charlotte Apricity etc

BlueGreenYellowRed · 08/05/2020 09:51

No

tillyteatowel · 08/05/2020 09:48

Sounds like an electricity supplier.

Don’t do this to your child.

April is a lovely name though!

Lostvoiced · 08/05/2020 09:47

If you're ok with them being called Prissy then fine.
It's a bit too precious for my tastes but to each their own.

overnightangel · 08/05/2020 09:09

Tesni is no better to be fair
Unless she already has a sibling called Teselbow
