Does Magda sound too harsh?

There's one in Bridget Jones. A lot of sites have it listed as German in origin, interestingly. Many German origin names are commonplace in the UK. I quite like it.

MoanyAnna · 07/05/2020 23:31

Love it

mathanxiety · 07/05/2020 23:30

I love it - I also love Dagmar, Greta, Frida, Bridget, Angharad, Ingrid, and other non-frilly names.

daisypond · 07/05/2020 22:18

I like it a lot. It’s not harsh. It has a bit of edge to it in comparison to all the bland or frilly names around.

babynamelover · 07/05/2020 22:15

I like it. Reminds me of Magda Gerber an amazing woman, what a great namesake 😃

ShowOfHands · 07/05/2020 22:14

I love it. I picture a cool, edgy teen. I love a hard g in a name. Agatha, Greta etc.

Nymeriastark1 · 07/05/2020 22:13

I worked with a magda once, I think she was polish. She was also really lovely I associate the name with her, so I like it. Wouldn't use it myself however.

Sorry, I don't like the way the word sounds, and also think of a middle aged Polish lady (no offence to Polish ladies!). Is there a connection with Eastern Europe, do you like M names or is there anything specific you like about the name? We might have other suggestions?

EducatingArti · 07/05/2020 22:06

I like it, but I have a lovely friend called Magda ( who has no Eastern European connections.)

Alonelonelyloner · 07/05/2020 22:06

It's a lovely name. I knew someone in sixth form called Magda and she was stunning so I think oh possibly made me love the name more.

SpratsOnParade · 07/05/2020 22:05

It has a very harsh unpleasant sound.

chatnicknameyousuggested · 07/05/2020 22:04

It's beautiful. Sounds Eastern European / Soviet, but there's nothing wrong with that Smile

MondeoFan · 07/05/2020 22:00

Nope

happytoday73 · 07/05/2020 21:50

No... Depends on your surname. Its very Polish/Eastern European...

Wowzel · 07/05/2020 21:48

I don't particularly like it.

Does it go well with your last name?

Wheresthebiffer2 · 07/05/2020 21:47

Are you Hungarian?

CodenameVillanelle · 07/05/2020 21:47

Sounds like a Middle Aged polish woman

I like Magdalene though
