Nancy Or Pearl

Really struggling to decide between the two.

Nancy has always been one of my favourite girl's names, and Pearl is my mother's name (she's amazing).

Thoughts?

I much prefer Nancy, how about Pearl as a middle name? Nancy Pearl sounds nice

PapercraftNinja · 07/05/2020 23:49

Love both and think Nancy Pearl would be good! Don’t understand why people come on to say they don’t like either, very odd!

pilates · 07/05/2020 22:22

Definitely Pearl

babynamelover · 07/05/2020 22:18

I saw a 100year old Nancy on the news last night in NZ she was so elegant didn't look at day over 80 and my daughter likes the fancy Nancy books.
According to the 100 year old rule it should be on the way back.
I love Nancy Pearl 😍 do it.

123Dancewithme · 07/05/2020 22:10

Pearl after your mum

hoping2018 · 07/05/2020 21:35

Top*

hoping2018 · 07/05/2020 21:35

Love love love Nancy - was too of my list for a girl! My friend just used it as a middle name too - thought she was mad not to have it as first name.

Dislike pearl!

Wheresthebiffer2 · 07/05/2020 20:41

Pearl - sounds like "peril" in a Scottish accent - which renders it not a very nice name at all.

-in Liverpool will sound more like "pell" .

applecatchers36 · 07/05/2020 20:30

Nancy is definitely twee prefer Pearl

Cosyblanky · 07/05/2020 20:27

The only Nancy I can remember knowing had red hair, so that's what I associate with the name. The first time I heard Pearl for a child I thought it was really pretty, but slightly over used now. You'll know when you meet your baby!

MondeoFan · 07/05/2020 20:19

I really like both but I think it also depends what part of the country you are frI'm.
Would it be a Pearlllll? Or more like a Pel? Which is just awful.
On that basis I'd go with Nancy

Nachonacho · 07/05/2020 20:11

Pearl! Nancy is lovely but very popular now Smile

Faez · 07/05/2020 20:04

Pearl is a mean drunk

MillicentMartha · 07/05/2020 19:56

I actually prefer Nancy. It reminds me of Swallows and Amazons. Pearl is ok. Nancy Pearl together is nice.

ladybranstonpickle · 07/05/2020 19:54

I've got a Pearl :) obviously I love it.

YakkityYakYakYak · 07/05/2020 19:52

I think they are both lovely.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/05/2020 19:50

Pearl definitely.

I really don't like Nancy. I think because the only one I've known was a very bolshy child and very princessy, look at me

daisypond · 07/05/2020 19:05

Nancy. I like it.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/05/2020 19:00

Pearl

MikeUniformMike · 07/05/2020 18:39

Nancy Pearl is nice.

DramaAlpaca · 07/05/2020 18:33

Call her Nancy Pearl, they go together well.

I'm not fond of either of them myself, not my style at all.

GinnyStrupac · 07/05/2020 18:28

I like both names and think they go well together. I prefer personally loved names and names that mean something - for example a loved one or place - than names that are just fashionable. None of DCs' names here were fashionable when chosen, though one has unfortunately gone up a bit in popularity since chosen by someone in the public eye. Go for them, OP.

JKScot4 · 07/05/2020 18:28

Nancy used to be a nasty slur towards gay men
Pearl very dated and not in need of a comeback.

ComeOnEileen11 · 07/05/2020 18:25

Both lovely. I'd go for pearl over Nancy, based on it being your mum's name too :)

Roselilly36 · 07/05/2020 18:20

I love Nancy, Pearl no, just no.
