Curious post - What names have you heard previously or if you heard them would make you go "wow" (in good way) or a name you'd think was simply sublime? Interested to hear your wow names

Emiliana ❤️❤️❤️

Gtugccbjb i know. :) I did not see his parents at that time but I really wanted to collar them and tell them how utterly lovely their DS was.

Gtugccbjb · 09/05/2020 11:04

Prunella. Pru for short. Not so keen on the prunella but LOVE Pru.

Gtugccbjb · 09/05/2020 11:02

GreenTeaMug Love that story! Very sweet and a funny name.

GreenTeaMug · 09/05/2020 10:57

*cool

Athena is lovely.

Beatrix - i was a massive fan of Trixie beldon growing up. That is a coo, wow name for me.

Miriel · 09/05/2020 09:30

Cayetana
Maité
Elisaveta
Rivka
Saoirse

Names that I first heard as an adult. I love them but don't have the right heritage to use any of them for a child.

Scruffyoak · 09/05/2020 09:20

Isolde
Valentine (I only used for a middle name as she was born on valentines...original I know!)
Esmeralda

Ancell

My DD is Beatrix which I always think is a wow name (biased though obvs), there’s an Athena in her class which always makes me think ‘cool name’.

I think Astrid is a wonderful name.

Emthebaker · 09/05/2020 00:43

I know a Felicity Blythe which I think is just stunning. And an Autumn Rose which is suuuuper pretty!

GinghamStyle · 08/05/2020 22:31

Names that have made me go “Wow!” over the years include:

Atticus
Gabriel
Phoenix
Aphrodite (grown woman, I’d never met someone called that before)

There have been some “Wow!” (not good) names too, including Storm, Jupiter, Bambi and all of the Nevaeh’s

Taddda · 08/05/2020 22:18

@DCIRozHuntley Thanks for explaining that, that's actually quite nice! Certainly different from the 'Gobnat' I had in my head!!

dementedma · 08/05/2020 22:04

Heard the Cornish name Petroc for a boy and love it!

DCIRozHuntley · 08/05/2020 21:55

@Taddda It's more like G-aah bneyt. St Gobnait's actually got a lovely story about healing the sick with honey, albeit lower key than many Saints stories but it's anglicized to Deborah. If you like the story I think you'd be more likely to go for Abigail which is another alternative name.

FourPlasticRings · 08/05/2020 21:28

Cuthbert. An excellent young actor from a deprived inner-city area. I hope his name means his parents are very aspirational for him and he manages to pursue his acting.

Taddda · 08/05/2020 21:08

I've tried saying 'Gobnat' in every accent in my head @IdblowJohnSnow - not one that doesn't sound like an insult, or a sentence that starts with 'shut yer face you.......'

(I REALLY hope no-one comes on now I says they've just named theirs that!)

IdblowJonSnow · 08/05/2020 20:26

Good wow or bad wow? I once saw the name 'Gobnat' in my baby name book. I think its Irish? Perhaps it sounds beautiful in Gaelic but written down...

Doodar · 08/05/2020 20:25

Gabriel

LoKiMummy · 08/05/2020 20:24

Annie for a girl. I just think it’s gorgeous. Alexander for a boy

Taddda · 08/05/2020 20:19

Cheryl (is it still Cole?) choice of 'Bear Payne' made us go 'Wow'...

Round here that's something you say when you stub your toe...'Did it hurt?'...' 'Oh I was in 'Bear Payne'.....Confused

rosecreakybex · 07/05/2020 15:32

Tiger

ravenmum · 07/05/2020 15:25

Oh, just read that Baby A12 isn't allowed to be called that after all.

ravenmum · 07/05/2020 15:23

Balonz is a Surrey name, A12 is an Essex name. Maybe Elon is from Essex?
