Sister for Arabella?

Enwi · 04/05/2020 22:01

We have Arabella and all going well, she’ll have a little sister next week. We’re having a really difficult time deciding on something we both like.

Currently we have:
Theodora (I wonder if this looks too masculine)
Ottilie (doesn’t go well with our surname but I love this)
Primrose (possibly too sweet)
Elowen

But none of them feel perfect. I’d love some suggestions please. What would you pair with Arabella Wren?

Lucia, Eliana, Oriana, Genevieve.

I hadnt seen your list with clementine on it when I just posted. The two names just belong together to me!

GlamGiraffe · 09/05/2020 01:13

Arabella and clementine ( I pronounce it to rhyme with sign not teen. I've only met people who do)

Bella and clemmy.

My daughters are Arabella & Clementine!
Other girl names we love:
Olympia
Theodora
Philippa
Matilda
Penelope
I would go for Clementine or Theodora (love this name we didn't use it as my best friend has a Theodore)
Good luck!

Just seen your second list. I love Clementine as a name, and I think it goes well with Arrabella, too.

SansaSnark · 06/05/2020 18:13

Has to be Araminta, surely?

Of your suggestions, Theodora is really lovely, and I think goes best with Arrabella.

Edenember · 06/05/2020 17:27

Corisande

RainbowMum11 · 05/05/2020 23:05

Constance or Nancy (slightly biased!)

Theodora - nice! I do get your point, some may find it masculine. I don't but I get it
Ottilie - love it! I wouldn't worry too much about the surname. 99% of the time you're only called by your first name anyway. If you love it, use it
Primrose - agree - a bit twee for me
Elowen - no - doesnt sounds right with your other daughters name as other posters have said. I also think it'll get misheard and shortened to El or Ellie and there's loads of names like that abouy
Clementine - love it

Other suggestions:
Felicity
Martha
Pearl
Delilah
Roxanne or Roseanne
Jemima
Liberty
Coralie or Cora
Edith (Edie)
Margot
Cleo
Margaret (Maggie)

Love Theodora - really nice. Also like Seraphina and Elowen...

Don't go for Ottilie - keep seeing it pop up but the name means - to be wealthy with money...

@millicentmartha yes that's a good point I hadn't considered that!

Not Elowen, too much like Arabella Wren.

Rosalie

GrouchyKiwi · 05/05/2020 16:00

Our three are Evelyn, Sophia and Arabella. I think their names work well together, but that's possibly because we've grown used to them over time. Wink

Ihaveamind · 05/05/2020 16:00

I love Seraphina and I wanted to suggest Lark as a middle name to keep the bird theme

Enwi · 05/05/2020 15:56

I quite like Rosemary too. X

Thanks so much everyone, these are some fabulous suggestions! Going to speak to DP once he’s finished work. But I feel much more positive with more options. Some of my favourites from those mentioned (have changed some slightly):

Seraphina (this is actually my sister’s name, but I still love it and glad to see someone thinks it goes).
Eloise
Camilla
Clementine
Florence
Alena (don’t like it with the ‘o’ instead of ‘a’)
Emmaline

I like a few others too but are too similar to my name. Will update once I’ve spoken to my DP in the hopes you might all help me with some middle names 🙊

I prefer Dorothy to Dorathea and think it sounds great with Arabella.
Not keen on the other names sorry
Arabella and louisa
Arabella and Beatrice
I like previous suggestions of using Robyn or some other nature inspired name for the middle

ivfgottostaypositive · 05/05/2020 07:10

Is Annabelle too similar to Arabella to consider?

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 05/05/2020 06:53

Theodore is definitely the best from your list. Would she be Thea or Theo in short form though? Magdalen is nice too.

daisypond · 05/05/2020 06:42

Theodora goes best with Arabella. It’s not masculine at all. I don’t think the others go.
