Clarification on Jaxson or Max

MamaAngela · 01/05/2020 14:00

I should explain where I got "Jaxson" from. My wife's name is Jazmin. Her father named all his children and spelt their names uniquely. I took Max and Jackson and put them together. Sorry. I am able to spell it's just a thing in my wife's family. Max was the name of a Kid from a movie we both watched and loved. Thanks for all the feedback.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Thisismytimetoshine · 02/05/2020 22:52

That would be a reasonable assumption.

peperethecat · 02/05/2020 22:49

Basically OP, if you call your son Jaxson everyone will assume that his mother is on about the same intellectual level as @K1mberlylauren here. Confused

HailHydra · 02/05/2020 21:55

@K1mberlylauren yes. We're all old, wretched crones.

But the majority of us can use the correct you're/your

Therefore, I have to assume you're a simple minded hun.

Woo. Go hun. Use all the letterz for your babez name

Pinkyplonky · 02/05/2020 21:54

Your probably boring and old, she’s probably young and cool and just wants an awesome name for her son ! And if you didn’t know these names are in

I’m 23 so very young and I can tell you names like Jaxson certainly aren’t ‘in’ or ‘cool’ Hmm I wouldn’t be caught dead using a name like Jaxson and if that makes me young but also boring then so be it!

MarylandMayhem · 02/05/2020 21:49

Your probably boring and old, she’s probably young and cool and just wants an awesome name for her son ! And if you didn’t know these names are in !!

Yeah but no but.

Thisismytimetoshine · 02/05/2020 21:49

She's probably young and cool 😂
Yeah, that'll be it.

K1mberlylauren · 02/05/2020 21:48

Ignor the nasty comments Jaxon is lovely

Thisismytimetoshine · 02/05/2020 21:48

Jaxson is unremittingly Godawful. But you'll probably use it anyway as you seem unbothered by what people are telling you.
It's what people in real life will be thinking, if not saying 🤷🏻‍♀️

K1mberlylauren · 02/05/2020 21:45

Why can’t people on here just say a simple yes or no it’s so annoying !!!or maybe make few more suggestions stop being so bloody rude and hating !!

Jaxon lovely name

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/05/2020 21:34

Macsen is a great name,I agree with @PastMyBestBeforeDate

CodenameVillanelle · 02/05/2020 21:20

It's disingenuous to say that the word 'chav' has nothing to do with the gypsy word. It's sneering, classist and offensive and relies on stereotypes of poor, 'low class' and uneducated people which people who use it tend to hold just as much about travellers.

MarylandMayhem · 02/05/2020 21:16

Words get taken and used from other languages all the time and have done throughout history, often those words gather different meanings not at all related to the original. That's what has happened here. Like it or not, the word now has another meaning.

Devlesko · 02/05/2020 20:04

I don't care right or wrong, it's a stolen word from another language that is used in a derogatory way.
I know it's used like this in the UK, and I call it every time, as I find it offensive and so does any other Romany person I know.

If you and others want to carry on offending a race, then carry on. I know if it was me I'd at least not argue the toss, and apologise for any offence.
If I didn't know I'd caused offence as I'm sure you didn't or anyone else, I'd acknowledge that it could course offence, and apologise..
I'll leave it with you.

Apologies OP, the name is fine, if you get any "Chav" comments, please put them right. Sorry for the derailment.

MarylandMayhem · 02/05/2020 19:22

Looked it up it the dictionary and realised you were wrong then Devlesko?

CheriLittlebottom · 02/05/2020 19:14

Everyone understands what chav / chavvy means. They may agree or disagree with using the term but it has a very clear meaning in English. Arguing that it doesn't is ridiculous.

Devlesko · 02/05/2020 19:05

Maryland

It's become common to steal the term, it doesn't make it right or change the words actual meaning.
Anyway carry on using it, you sound stupid. Grin

peperethecat · 02/05/2020 18:48

Mumsnet is full of massive snobs.

So is the big wide world, including the education system and most professions.

MarylandMayhem · 02/05/2020 18:47

It doesn't have an English meaning? You should tell that to the dictionaries that contain it.

Devlesko · 02/05/2020 18:41

Maryland
A chav is a child, it's a Romany word, which means child.
It doesn't mean unmarried, nor does it have an English meaning, until translated to child.

Aposterhasnoname · 02/05/2020 18:33

Just ignore them OP. Mumsnet is full of massive snobs. If you like the name then use it.

midwestsummer · 02/05/2020 18:31

People in the UK would judge a Jaxson his whole life.
It isn't fair particularly as you don't choose your own name but it would happen
Max is a perfectly sensible name.

MarylandMayhem · 02/05/2020 18:28

Or does it mean child? Idk, but it's clear I wasn't using the Romany meaning. The meaning of words change, they can have different meanings.

MarylandMayhem · 02/05/2020 18:25

Eh? I'm obviously using the English slang meaning, not the Romany unmarried meaning. Confused
