Not for me sadly but was asked to post.
37 weeks so not long to go:

Cailín (the Gaelic word for girl)
Lumen
Polly
Elowen
Romilly
Cadence
Della
Evelyn (ev-lin)
Sabine (pr the french way ‘een’)
Delilah
Fiadh

Bit of a mixed bag there ...

Delilah or Polly or Sabine
Nn Saba

Sb131216 · 04/05/2020 01:58

I like elowen and delilah and fiadh is unusual in a good way

Really not keen on lumen, polly or cadence personally.
Lumen like others, makes me think of lightbulbs.

I knew a Della growing up and she was lovely, so vibrant and bubbly. Fantastic singer and so pretty I really looked up to her as a kid. May get misheard for Bella though which I associate with a dog..

TheySnackin · 01/05/2020 19:27

Lumen
Polly
Elowen
Delilah

Lampan · 01/05/2020 19:12

Lumen made me think blood vessel/intestine too I’m afraid! Or unit of brightness. Either way it’s more ‘school science lab’ than a name I think...

riotlady · 01/05/2020 19:08

I like them all except Lumen and Sabine

FizzyGreenWater · 01/05/2020 16:04

Yes agree with surprise at Della being ok! It's really horrid - like a nickname but not actually short for anything, and to me it's along the lines of Delia, Deirdre - just no.

MrsDrudge · 01/05/2020 13:24

I think they all sound pretty, except for Lumen which is the width of the hole going down the middle of a tube (eg the Lumen of a needle or a piece of pipework) . Personally I’d avoid that but I like all the others.

formerbabe · 01/05/2020 13:13

Surprised Della is so popular...it's seems like such a plain name to me

goldpendant · 30/04/2020 23:17

Ooh Della and Romilly are gorgeous, a lot like my list of faves, OP!

TenThousandSpoons0 · 30/04/2020 23:10

All fine except please please don’t let her call her child lumen. In medical terms it’s the inside of any hollow tube - think intestines, Fallopian tubes, blood vessels. No no no!

babynamelover · 30/04/2020 21:59

I like best Polly, Elowen and Della 😍

missmouse101 · 30/04/2020 21:56

Polly and Romilly. Elowen sounds like L.O.N. what about Lowenna? Much nicer.

20viona · 30/04/2020 21:55

Della or
Delilah

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 21:45

@NightingalesAtDawn I feel the same way about Polly! Really lovely. Met a polly the other day (adult) and it struck me it's the first Polly I've met and it's a lovely name

Ellmau · 30/04/2020 21:25

Love Sabine and Delilah.

Polly’a A bit dull but ok.

Don’t like the others.

MsTSwift · 30/04/2020 19:02

I like Romilly and Della. Some are abit daft (Delilah Lumen and Cadence) Evelyn will join the legions of Eve very overused and common name. I struggle with Gaelic names tbh but guess if you in Ireland it’s not an issue.

Mommaofboys1 · 30/04/2020 18:59

Love Delilah!
Also Della is very cute 🥰 xx

BrooHaHa · 30/04/2020 18:43

Have never understood why Holly and Molly have both had their moment in recent years, but Polly hasn't.

I think it's got too many associations for lots of people.
Polly want a cracker?
Polly put the kettle on.
Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick
Polly Pocket
There are probably more.

NightingalesAtDawn · 30/04/2020 18:14

I Iove Polly. Have never understood why Holly and Molly have both had their moment in recent years, but Polly hasn't.

helpmum2003 · 30/04/2020 18:06

That is a real mix!

Cailín (the Gaelic word for girl)- would be confused as Caitlin
Lumen - an anatomical term
Polly - like
Elowen - will be confused i think.
Romilly - love it
Cadence - cycling term
Della - chavvy, sorry
Evelyn (ev-lin) - like
Sabine (pr the french way ‘een’) - ok
Delilah - ok
Fiadh - how do you say it?

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 30/04/2020 18:04

I don't like Lumen, Polly, Cadence, or Delilah, but the rest are lovely. Della is my favourite, though Dellen is better. I also prefer Ev-eh-lyn to Ev-lyn, but it's nice both ways. Lumen is hands down the worst as it makes me think of blood vessels!

peperethecat · 30/04/2020 17:59

Polly or Sabine for me.

vinoelle · 30/04/2020 17:54

Please don’t use lumen! This literally means inside/ hole in medical terms so will open her up (so to speak 😉) to filthy jokes!

MikeUniformMike · 30/04/2020 17:52

Cailín (the Gaelic word for girl) - I'm not irish, so I have no idea
Lumen - as in light? no
Polly - love
Elowen - not unless you are cornish . L. Owen, I think.
Romilly - No.
Cadence - the wheels on the bike go round and round
Della - nice
Evelyn (ev-lin) - no. too many eve type names around
Sabine (pr the french way ‘een’). Mean Sabine. I like it.
Delilah- - Awful
Fiadh - I'm not Irish so i have no idea.

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2020 17:42

I enjoyed that article @florascotia2, very interesting. And I loved the last line - 'wild deer' being Donegal Irish for 'very expensive' Grin
