Florence

Sb131216 · 04/05/2020 01:44

Definitely Aurelia! Sounds classic and delicate without being prissy or cutesy
I'm not keen on Florence but less so now its getting more popular personally

DariaMorgendorffer · 01/05/2020 22:51

Love Aurelia!

Juliaplus4 · 01/05/2020 22:47

Florence, without a doubt.

NameChange84 · 01/05/2020 12:10

Congratulations!

We did Latin at school and there was a character called Aurelia and all the boys used to snigger and make jokes about “Oral” Hmm. So that would make me worry she’d get bullied as she got older.

Florence Aurelia would be a beautiful name...just saying Wink.

Marimari93 · 01/05/2020 09:47

Florence. But not keen on Flo.

ludicrouslemons · 01/05/2020 09:41

If your kid finds it hard to pronounce Rs (increasingly common I think) then Aurelia sounds pretty bad...

y0rkier0se · 01/05/2020 09:39

I think Florence & Rupert complement each other beautifully, and congratulations!

SE13Mummy · 01/05/2020 03:09

Congratulations! I think Florence is a gorgeous name and would choose that over Aurelia - I usually prefer girls names that have a definite ending rather than an 'ee' or 'uh' sound.

TenThousandSpoons0 · 01/05/2020 02:40

Congratulations :)

Wheresthebiffer2 · 01/05/2020 02:06

Congratulations!

Oct18mummy · 30/04/2020 23:42

Congratulations! They are both beautiful names so good choice whichever one you go for x

Thank you! Baby decided to surprise us a little early - was booked for section next week, but due to reduced movements and high heart rate they whipped her out today!!!!

Thank you for all your advice... still no closer to a decision as due to Covid my husband had to leave quite soon after!! At the moment she looks like a Florence to me though! Xx

Florence - was on our list :) I like Flo too.

florababy84 · 30/04/2020 14:58

Yes I think it's pronounced aw-RAY-Lee-uh rather than a REE sound.

I only know it from Love Actually though!

MikeUniformMike · 30/04/2020 14:49

Not keen on Aurelia - too similar to Amelia.

EmpressMaudie · 30/04/2020 14:33

Oar-ray-lee-ah would be correct.

EmpressMaudie · 30/04/2020 14:30

Florence is lovely. I can imagine Aurelia might be subject to mispronunciation, if that would be an issue for you.

KingaRoo · 30/04/2020 14:26

I know an Aurelia. Hers is pronounced oar-ray-lee-ah

123Dancewithme · 30/04/2020 14:18

Florence

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2020 13:54

I love Florence, Aurelia is nice too, but Florence is my favourite of the two.

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 13:12

Both Aurelia and Florence are really nice, I couldn't pick
Rupert is lovely too

Peachbubble · 30/04/2020 13:01

dietcokeandchill · 30/04/2020 12:31

Thank you... I was thinking Aurelia would be Or ree lia but please someone correct me If I’m wrong!

If anyone has any other ideas I would be happy to hear x

I see Florence as a good strong name with no question marks. Flo isn't the best nickname but there are others, like Florrie or Flossie.

Aurelia is very pretty but to me it's more floaty and slightly confusing pronunciation. Doesn't mean not to use it but those are my impressions of the names.
