Hi everyone !

We really need some help and some suggestions! We are expecting twin boys, the C section is booked for either the 4th of May or the 14th depending on upcoming scans. But we can't agree on names !!!

We both have our own list -

Husbands list

Joshua (I have a cousin josh but DH loves the name 🙄)
Leo
Lucas
James
Jamie
Thomas

My list
Charlie
Wilfred
Edward
George
Oliver
Louie
Ruben
Freddie *

Any other suggestions that are similar? Or any of those that you think go well together?

Thank you for any suggestions !!! much appreciated I'm going crazy with it all 💙💙

Nettleskeins · 01/05/2020 12:51

Leo and Kit is great

Nettleskeins · 01/05/2020 12:43

Theodore and Raphael
Or Theo and Rafe

covidcougher · 01/05/2020 12:39

Can you put them in a hat and choose one of each?

Lightofthephoenix · 01/05/2020 12:38

Lucas and Louis

Lightofthephoenix · 01/05/2020 12:37

Leo & Kit

DoctorBambino · 01/05/2020 12:21

Congratulations OP!
I think Leo and Louie would be cute. Or Thomas and Charlie.

MikeUniformMike · 01/05/2020 12:07

Jamie and Charlie.

averytiredmom · 01/05/2020 03:02

Either a name each or if he won’t do that then you choose both names and he gets middle names. Joshua should be vetoed as you have family with that name

Headbangersandmash · 01/05/2020 03:01

I think that it should be one from each list but not George and Lucas or your family will get Star Wars jokes al the time.

Headbangersandmash · 01/05/2020 02:59

My son is best friends with a Louie and his name is frequently mistaken as Louis by teachers, people on social media etc (Louie is a teen so on SM)

itstrue · 01/05/2020 02:35

We each picked a name for our twins. We have never told them this so they don't know who choose what!

The only thing I'd recommend is choose names that sound right no matter which name comes first. My girls have names that sound more comfortable one way that the other. I know it annoys my dd that her name is pretty much always last.

Tavannach · 01/05/2020 01:51

You're the one doing the work so you get to choose and he gets to agree.
Seriously you choose the first names and let him choose the middle names.

Downton57 · 01/05/2020 00:14

Leo and George, which isn't too far sound-wise from Josh.

Buttercup54321 · 30/04/2020 23:51

Joshua and Oliver

terrigrey · 30/04/2020 19:33

DH needs to remember his place in all this...you have carried twins and at the very least you get to choose their names, you are generous to allow him to name one.

Whatsyourflava · 30/04/2020 13:15

I'm really shocked he wants to choose both. It's so easy to compromise with twins- you pick a name each?! Surely

Windyatthebeach · 30/04/2020 12:37

He can choose 1 first name and the other's middle name and so can you!!

Imo

Your DH is the problem here. He needs to compromise a bit. There are two babies to name so I don't see why both first names should come from his list and none from yours. I would name one boy from your list, with a middle from his and one boy from his list with a middle from yours.

I would veto Joshua as it's your cousin's name. Everyone will have a different line when it comes to names of living family members. For me cousins names are off limits, and it sounds like you're not comfortable using the name.

Most of your names have a similar feel - James, Thomas, Edward, George and Oliver - they're all pretty safe traditional names.

I would avoid James and Oliver as a combo in case James prefers Jamie when he's older.

James and Thomas from his list would work well with Edward and George from yours. George Thomas and James Edward for example.

If DH really likes Leo how about Leo Oliver and Edward Thomas, or Leo Oliver and Edward James or Leo Oliver and George Thomas.

LemonBreeland · 30/04/2020 12:14

Your DH needs to remember who carried them! If he gets Joshua you get to choose your favourite from your list. Or back to the drawing board until you both agree. He can't just not listen to any reason.

Helena112 · 30/04/2020 12:03

Thank you for all of your suggestions !!

We're still banging our heads together! DH just wants them to be called Josh and Leo and that's it 🤯 isn't open to any of my suggestions at all ! I find it so unfair.

Part of me just wants to give in and let him name them - other part of me finds it so unfair that I don't even get a say 😤

We will have to sort something!! I'll let you all know 💙💙

I like Leo and Charlie together.
Congrats on having twins.

MissSmiley · 28/04/2020 16:11

I have twin boys, we decided to name the second born with the name that came first in the alphabet so they would get read out first at school, ie not always second but the best advice I had was not to tell them their birth order, mine are 13 now and still don't know who's older, they are very competitive and it just doesn't matter
Also choose names with different initials, they need privacy in their post when they get older

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 28/04/2020 16:11

Love Edward
Joshua
James
Thomas
Wilfred and
Oliver
The only combinations I wouldn't use together are James and Oliver (my husband is James and used to get called Jamie)
And James and Joshua as I think they are a bit matchy.
How about samuel
Isaac
Jacob

MadameJosephine · 28/04/2020 16:10

I’d go for one from his list and one from yours with the middle names the other way around

Love James with either Frederick (prefer it to freddie) or Wilfred as the middle name and Edward Thomas

Aber9 · 28/04/2020 15:46

James and Edward
