Hi everyone !

We really need some help and some suggestions! We are expecting twin boys, the C section is booked for either the 4th of May or the 14th depending on upcoming scans. But we can't agree on names !!!

We both have our own list -

Husbands list

Joshua (I have a cousin josh but DH loves the name 🙄)
Leo
Lucas
James
Jamie
Thomas

My list
Charlie
Wilfred
Edward
George
Oliver
Louie
Ruben
Freddie *

Any other suggestions that are similar? Or any of those that you think go well together?

Thank you for any suggestions !!! much appreciated I'm going crazy with it all 💙💙

I actually love Lucas and Leo from your DH list but I agree he is being massively unreasonable, and if he is gonna sulk then I'd pick both names ! If you choose one of his you're being very generous after he behaved in such a way.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 05/05/2020 17:56

Great choice!! 😍😍 Love the idea of usi g both your fathers names, I like Joshua Michael and Oliver Philip

SnowdropFox · 05/05/2020 17:43

Aww wee Josh and Ollie. Sounds like a cute wee pair. Now you just need to meet them! Glad you've made progress op. Hopefully he mulls it over and becomes more agreeable.

Helena112 · 05/05/2020 15:49

He's not normally this childish! 🙄

I think the pressure of a stressful pregnancy, lockdown, working from home and the lack of friends and family has been dragging him down. To then top it off us both disagreeing on names !!

I think we will go for Oliver and Joshua, they work well together. Both are similar in length and can be shortened. Just the middle names to sort now ! I might just throw in your fathers names! Philip and Michael. I do feel like I'm making progress!

I suggested This to him yesterday, he didn't say much so I'm taking it as a yes! Joshua chosen by DH and Oliver chosen by me - seems fair !

Thank you for all of your suggestions 💙💙

I think Leo as it's weird if it's your cousin...
And then Joshua the middle name for the other one? So you have a bame each for both.

HelloItsmeAgain1 · 03/05/2020 14:58

Charlie is also cute. James (Jamie) and Charlie.

birdwatching · 03/05/2020 13:37

poor you - you will soon have to deal with 3 children. sorry, not helpful but how childish is he? You will have loads of arguments on your hand in the next 20 years if he doesn't mature a bit.

I would take him up on his offer and to name them. Call one of them Joshua and pick the other twin's name from your list.

Hope it all goes well.

smartiecake · 03/05/2020 12:31

Choose them both then OP. I think if he is giving you an ultimatum and being so childish about it then please dont give in to him. Show him that sulking wont get him his own way. It sounds like you will soon have 3 babies to contend with!
He doesn't get to sulk and strop. You choose the names. Hope he can see that compromise is the way forward. You choose the names you like. You have done the hard work so far, and no doubt will be doing the hard work when the babies arrive.

Eskarina1 · 03/05/2020 12:25

We did one first name each and one second name each, so one twin had my choice of first name and dhs choice of 2nd name. However, we both agreed the names.

Is his behaviour typical or a reaction to the stress of premature twins and presumably risks to your or their health if they are coming early?

whatausername · 03/05/2020 12:18

He is beyond immature. How the hell is he going to be as a parent?

Lightofthephoenix · 03/05/2020 11:57

Josh and Max

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 03/05/2020 11:47

That's a very childish reaction, sorry its giving you extra stress. I like Joshua Edward and Oliver Thomas, that way you both get two names each from your lists. If it helps, my son has the same name as one of my cousins, we're not close and haven't seen him for a while but nobody in the family mentioned it

Helena112 · 03/05/2020 10:47

Thank you everyone for all your help !!! 💙💙 really is much appreciated 💙💙

We still haven't come to a conclusion 🤯

My C Section has been pushed back to the 14th. I'll be 32 weeks and 4 days - we're very happy about the extra ten days! Not from a name point of view but from a premature and NICU health point of view 👶🏼👶🏼 💪🏻💪🏻

Basically my DH has thrown his toys out of his pram.. if it's not Josh and Leo then he doesn't want to be involved in the names and I just have to pick them both 🙄 and he doesn't care! but he's given a reason against each name on my list!!

I'll just have to find a name that now goes with either Josh or Leo, I'm not against this idea, I think one name each is fair!

I'll just have to deal with the sulking from DH 🙄

Did you pick names @Helena112

Wolfgirrl · 03/05/2020 01:25

Charlie & Leo!

user3274826 · 03/05/2020 01:20

Your names are more traditional and his more classic but both lists are very popular/safe (dare I say bland?) but they will all blend together, so the most obvious thing to do is pick one each, surely? It's not like you want Sylvester and he wants Jayden.

JKScot4 · 03/05/2020 01:14

Josh & Freddie
name one each

annacus · 03/05/2020 01:12

We have a situation with relatives where one parent insisted on choosing the baby's name - a name that the other parent positively disliked - and three years on it still rankles and the name is universally disliked by everyone else in the family. It definitely doesn't suit the child.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/05/2020 23:17

Why don't you name one and your DH name the other. I'd say that's a fair compromise.

schafernaker · 02/05/2020 23:05

From your lists I’d go for one from each

Thomas and George would be my choice from what you have.

I’ve always thought I’d name twin boys thomas and Joseph 😂

SnowdropFox · 02/05/2020 11:52

Is he not open to naming one each?
Are you resistant because he has basiy decided or would those name actually be ok if you think about it?
How often do you see your cousin? If not that often I'd take that away as a reason not to use it.

I personally like Joshua, Ruben, Louis and Lucas.

Hope they arrive safely soon OP.

Twisique · 02/05/2020 10:31

Chose a name each, the other parent chooses the middle name. Eg Joshua Edward and George James.

YouAreMySunshinee · 02/05/2020 09:04

I like George and Thomas together

MrsMonicaBing · 02/05/2020 09:03

I let my ex choose my babies names, and then we broke up and now he rarely sees them. Of course I'm not saying this will happen to you, but I have regretted not putting my foot down and using the names I wanted ever since. You have spent 9 months growing two babies, you have every right to name them, or at least have a say!

P. S I like Leo and Louis

Poetryinaction · 02/05/2020 08:57

Louis and Thomas would be my choices. One from each list.
But it sounds like one of them is Josh!
So Josh and Louis.
