BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/04/2020 14:08

*deja vu

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/04/2020 14:07

I’m getting a dejavu feeling... Have you posted about this before?

Of your choices, I’d say Cassius. I’ve taught a Cassius before so not so unusual.

K1mberlylauren · 28/04/2020 14:00

Yeh I agree Amari is similar to amayah think that’s why I’ve changed my mind

Ishiah was my first choice when I found out we was expecting a boy, but doesn’t it sound a bit to religious? That’s why I changed my mind

I don’t like any Bulgarian boy names I feel like they will be very difficult to pronounce

Joe exotic? 😂

Blursula · 28/04/2020 12:44

If you and your husband have different tastes the ‘babyname’ app is quite fun - you both download it and swipe right for the names you like. You then see your matches - the names you both swiped right for. Some names on there are quite different too.

IVflytrap · 28/04/2020 12:18

I like Cassius the most out of your list. I also like Elias, although spelt that way.

I was going to suggest Taran, but I see @FrancisCrawford has beaten me to it! Smile Here are some more suggestions:

Cassian
Orion
Jonas
Evander
Lysander
Nate
Malachai
Torin
Ivo
Magnus
Jesse
Zephyr
Jethro
Teilo
Piran
Cato

Amari is too similar to Amayah. Cassius is the nicest on your list. If you like Trey, what about Troy?

You mentioned on your other thread that you have Bulgarian heritage, and that your husband is from the Caribbean. Are there any Bulgarian names you like, or any names from your husband's culture that you like?

Old testament names are a good shout - you may find names which are unusual enough for you, but traditional enough for your husband.

I would suggest printing two copies of the Top 1000 boys names. Then go through and highlight the names you like, while your husband does the same. Then see if there are any names in common.

Top 1000 in England and Wales: www.britishbabynames.com/blog/top-1000-names-in-england-and-wales-2018.html

You can also get the top 1000 for Scotland and the top 500 for NI.

If you look at ONS stats I believe you can download all names given to 3 or more babies in a particular year (I think Scotland may publish all names given to 1 or more babies). So you can see names outside the top 1000 that way.

Darkgreener is a useful website which tracks the popularity of a name. So you can see whether something you like is shooting up in popularity, stable or declining in popularity.

@jossina and so what if they do?
'Racist-y'? What you said is just pure racist.

Cheeseycracker
how do you know OP is not black and/or American?

TheSkyWasDark · 28/04/2020 05:34

Most of those names are pretty commonplace these days.

If you called your baby John, he'd likely be the only one in the class.

nightswimmers · 28/04/2020 05:33

Rare and exotic? HmmConfused

Outfoxed · 28/04/2020 05:26

Elias is a great name

Ineedabreak19 · 28/04/2020 05:09

Christopher nn Kit
Alexander nn Xander
Elijah
Aaron
Ezekial nn Zeke

Have a look at Old Testament names as they have meanings and are semi familiar without looking made up. The last three names in my list are old Testament names.

IHateCoronavirus · 28/04/2020 04:22

I love Zafer

averytiredmom · 28/04/2020 03:57

Elias is nice, shortened to Eli
