What do you think of this name for DD?

I like it but I feel like it needs to be short for something. Juliette, Henrietta etc

bridgetreilly · 27/04/2020 22:25

I would use it as a nn:
Juliet
Harriet
Henrietta
Aletta
Odette

namedecisionshelp · 27/04/2020 22:25

Like Emma. Et- tah

How is it pronounced? eee-ta or like the E in emma. If it's the first one then it's a no for me. It reminds me of the Greek word 'ήττα' which means 'defeat'.

MyOtherProfile · 27/04/2020 22:13

While it is linked with Basque separatists I don't think most people would jump to that. I love Etta James and I love the name.

123Dancewithme · 27/04/2020 22:11

Agree that it’s harsh and sounds like a non-name.

MilkNoSugars · 27/04/2020 17:50

Lovely name!

midwestsummer · 27/04/2020 17:50

(Although it isn't spelled the same)

midwestsummer · 27/04/2020 17:48

My first thought is the terrorist group, so I wouldn't go there.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 27/04/2020 17:45

I'm really sorry but I just don't get why this name has become so popular, I'm really not a fan sorry

eleventy3isthemagicnumber · 27/04/2020 15:52

Love it!

nocoolnamesleft · 27/04/2020 15:51

I'm afraid I'm another one who immediately thinks of the Basque separatists.

TickTockBaby · 27/04/2020 15:49

Love it! 🌸

TheWashingMachine · 27/04/2020 15:48

I don't like it much either, I think it is ugly.

Toilenstripes · 27/04/2020 15:47

No. It just seems like a non name to me. Like Arla.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2020 15:47

Horrid and harsh sounding.

Elouera · 27/04/2020 15:46

I knew a lady from Sierra Leone called Etta. Not sure if its popular there, or a shortened version of something? I prefer Odette though.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/04/2020 15:45

Horrible. However I'm very much in the minority. It's raved about on here

toughgetsgoing · 27/04/2020 15:34

its better for a nickname though.. its a bit short and like 'et al' - not sure if your dd will like it

wonkylegs · 27/04/2020 15:20

I have a good friend who's daughter is called this and it suits her. She has Henrietta on her birth certificate but is called Etta by everyone.

LotusClover · 27/04/2020 15:17

It's a bit short and harsh sounding IMO, sorry

Divebar · 27/04/2020 15:11

I know an Etta but she’s Odette on her birth certificate.

Whatsyourflava · 27/04/2020 15:10

Love it so much xx

Anappleaday1 · 27/04/2020 15:09

Love it!

toughgetsgoing · 27/04/2020 15:08

it's sweet
