Honor? Aurora? Nameless baby!

I'm due a little girl in July. I'm getting very concerned she's going to be nameless for a while as we just haven't found a name that sticks or feels 'right'. We want something not to popular or 'normal' e.g. Rose, Amy, Mia etc but not completely out there and unheard of. Our current names on the list are;
Aurora - concerned about rising popularity
Eden - Love it but as above
Honor - does it sound too much like 'on-her' don't want any bullying from this
Clementine - my partner is a redhead and if she's a ginger, fodder for bullies?

Middle name will be Florence and our last name begins with an S and ends in an N
Please give us your thoughts on our names and maybe suggest some others?

I love Aurora. You can't guarantee a names future status (whether it will rise in popularity or become less popular) so why not just pick one that you really like and not care about being unique? The only way you'll get something unique is if you make something up like the crazy new names originating these days.

catsmother · 27/04/2020 17:05

I have an Honor. In well over a decade she has never had anyone tease her about her name in the slightest, although there have been many weird and wonderful spellings of it from others.

She really likes the fact it's still relatively rare and that she's always been 'unique' at school. I think we've only ever met - by chance - a couple of other Honors. One was a woman who rushed up to us in Tescos to introduce herself after she'd heard me calling my daughter because she was so delighted to find another!

Aurelia and Clemency

FizzyGreenWater · 27/04/2020 16:37

Hero and Hebe are nice alternatives to Honor.

Greta, Xanthe, Linnet, Romy

Depends where you live, I live up North and there was an Aurora in my little boys baby sensory class, and the name just sounds awful in a northern accent. I would imagine Honor would too 🙈

vitajana · 27/04/2020 16:16

I like the suggestion of Aurelia it’s similar to Aurora but it’s not rising so quickly in popularity like Aurora. I think Clementine could be awkward for a ginger so I wouldn’t use that one. I like Eden but again is becoming popular my favourite is Honor prefer Honour spelling wise especially if your living in the UK.
Suggestions:
Delphine Florence
Romilly Florence
Ciara Florence
Theodora Florence
Trinity Florence
Rosa Florence

Florence is a collection of short consonants and short, abrupt vowels. In my over 50 years experience of all that, I advise choosing a long vowel/s and soft consonants to pair with it.

Off the top of my head, Catherine? Claire? Roisin? I am not advising any of those names but just to give you the idea.

Constance
Marianna
Louisa

Ellmau · 27/04/2020 12:04

Aurora is lovely. If you want something similar but a bit more unusual, what about Aurelia?

toughgetsgoing · 27/04/2020 11:47

aurora is a bit faddy ngl
honor is classic she might get a bit of on her jokes but it's a good name for a baby, child, adult

Ineedabreak19 · 27/04/2020 04:47

Honor is my choice. I think a long middle name should have a shorter first name to go with it.

Verity Florence
Azalea Florence
Violet Florence
Anna Florence
Pearl Florence
Eve/Eva Florence
Ruth Florence
Tara Florence
Corinne (OK not a short name but love it)
Adeline (as above)
Lena Florence
Louisa Florence

Honor stands out for me - gorgeous.

Cheerfullygo4 · 26/04/2020 22:00

Aurora is very princessy, a big name to live up to. Clementine and Honor are lovely names and will definitely grow into adulthood easily.

Pawsin · 26/04/2020 21:31

I know a red haired girl called Clementine, although she tends to be called Cleo a lot, I love it :) not too sure about Aurora, I find it a bit of a mouthful, but do love the nickname Rory. I also like the name Honor, and have honestly never thought of 'on her'!

Anoisagusaris · 26/04/2020 21:28

You have ages to go. None of my children were named until they were born.

daisypond · 26/04/2020 21:26

I like Honor and Clementine. Not so keen on the other two. You’ll get pronunciation issues with Clementine, but no need to worry about any red-haired references.

Peachbubble · 26/04/2020 20:59

From your list, I'd choose Clementine.

Blursula · 26/04/2020 20:07

I really like Eden. Aurora I find a bit too princessy, Honor always looks a bit odd (probably because it looks like it should be Honour) and I like Clementine but find the nickname Clemmie far too much like clammy!

MilkNoSugars · 26/04/2020 20:01

Honor ❤️ beautiful and classy name.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/04/2020 19:55

I love Eden and Aurora from your list.
Other suggestions
Clemency. Mariella. Marcia. Amberly.

LotusClover · 26/04/2020 16:35

Aurora is nice. Not keen on Honor - Honor Florence doesn't sound right. Florence is lovely though.

Honor is beautiful. I'm not sure about Clementine - I know a couple of little Clems and they are delightful but I just can't warm to the name.

Alternatives:
Sybil
Nancy
Violet
Rosamund

enragedpenfold · 26/04/2020 16:23

Aurora has become really popular with the trans community here because of the new dawn/ sunrise thing. I liked it before (Aurora Leigh) but even without the middle aged men using it for their rebirth as women it’s quite popular now. Love Rory as a nn.
Love Florence.
Romilly? Romy?

Whatsyourflava · 26/04/2020 16:19

Love Honor, pretty and classic.

I don't think there's any more scope for bullying than Aurora, Clementine or Mia.
