Which spelling?

We're not sharing our name choice with anyone else, so looking for help here!

Which spelling for our baby boy, due soon:

Caspar
Or
Casper

Using the 'K' spelling isn't an option, as baby's initials would be KKK 🙅‍♀️

I'm leaning ever so slightly towards Casper, but worry about the "friendly ghost" connection.

So, which spelling do you prefer and why?

Thanks ♥️

Call him Caspian

Whatsyourflava · 25/04/2020 17:27

Have answered the question for you @87Callista - just checked the 2018 statistics myself and yes what 87C has written correlates fo 2018 (most recent year we have official stats for)

Whatsyourflava · 25/04/2020 17:24

@iamrubyfinch it’s the 2018 ratings yes. Those are the most recent year we have official stats for.

Well done for picking a name - I know how hard it is - you’ve made a really great choice

PrimeraVez · 25/04/2020 17:18

Brilliant name! I have a Caspar and am happy with that spelling although it does get misspelt a lot.

AdaColeman · 25/04/2020 17:17

I prefer Caspar.

Blursula · 25/04/2020 17:02

This is on our list too and we were debating the same thing! I think Casper looks better

LucyFox · 25/04/2020 15:50

Casper

Peachbubble · 25/04/2020 15:44

I would choose Casper.

iamrubyfinch · 25/04/2020 15:44

@Whatsyourflava, thank you. It's taken us so long to choose!

@Nachonacho, I wouldn't have thought that so good to know - thank you!

@iamrubyfinch Exactly that! CasPARR and CasPERR if that makes sense Grin I'm near Brighton so West Sussex way!

daisypond · 25/04/2020 15:16

It’s a nice name. I would want to spell it Caspar, as that’s more traditional, but most people will go for Casper, so to make life easier I’d probably go for that.

iamrubyfinch · 25/04/2020 15:12

@Nachonacho interesting, I wouldn't have thought they'd be pronounced differently! Do people say "CasPARR"? Where abouts do you live? We're up north.

I prefer the Casper spelling.

iamrubyfinch · 25/04/2020 15:11

@87Callista thanks for that, are those rankings from 2018?

Thanks for this. Are those rankings from 2018?

If in the uk I think ppl would assume it's spelt Casper. So I'd go for that.

IckleBear · 25/04/2020 14:56

Casper

Whatsyourflava · 25/04/2020 14:15

Lovely name by the way

Whatsyourflava · 25/04/2020 14:15

Yes agree with @87Callista

Looking at the statistics I’d just pick the more common spelling as that will be easier for him.

Casper

Astronica · 25/04/2020 14:11

I like both spellings - lovely name - so not much help here. I would probably err towards Caspar as it feels the most traditional, however if Casper is the most used then it makes sense to go that way too.

bridgetreilly · 25/04/2020 12:54

Caspar.

And it's not a biblical name. There's a tradition about the names of the wise men, but they aren't in the Bible, which does not even specify how many of them there were.
