Whilst researching the name Arabella (as per previous thread), I came across Elodie.

Just wondered if you could all tell me what you think of the name and what sort of child you imagine Elodie would be?
May consider either Elodie Summer or Elodie Harper.

Thank you. X

El names have a certain loveliness to them although they are quite common atm.

Eleanor
Eloise
Elodie
Ella
Elle
Ellen
Ellie
Elara
Elizabeth
Etc

Is Elodie pronounced the same as Melody without the M?

Summer and Harper would both make gorgeous middle names to Elodie.

We love it. DP is French and it’s on our list.

frenchfancy81 · 25/04/2020 00:26

Elodie is such a pretty name, especially in a French accent! X

nevernotstruggling · 24/04/2020 23:34

Wow the second Elodie thread.
I have a 7 year old Elodie - so not a 2019-21 or whatever baby.

We don't know any other Elodie's though I overheard one once.

It's not like Amelie I meet them all the time. My niece being one.

Unbelievably rude posts on these threads.

I knew an Elodie, lovely name but she was trouble Grin

Swearwolf · 24/04/2020 23:01

It sounds like you love it, so go for it! I think it's lovely, and I know a couple of very sweet little Elodies. Not very many though!

MadameF · 24/04/2020 21:54

Lovely prénom yes French but not unfashionable at the moment and very pretty, much nicer than Elsie!
I like Inès and Manon too.

Pantheon · 24/04/2020 20:15

Lovely name!

Notredamn · 24/04/2020 20:06

Works*

Notredamn · 24/04/2020 20:06

I don't think it really work in English, also I'm biased because there were so many around when I was at school, it's like if suddenly Kerry became really popular in France.

MrsJoshNavidi · 24/04/2020 20:04

Should it be Élodie?

Yester · 24/04/2020 20:01

Elodie is lovely, Much much nicer than Summer (ignore the sad twat above)

itshappened · 24/04/2020 20:01

All the elodie's I know are french or have one french parent, and are being brought up bilingual / attending french schools in the UK. I think there is something a bit naff about using such a lovely, french sounding name if you don't have any french ties.

Really? It's right for a child to be bullied because of their name? Oh dear.

I think Elodie Summer is lovely. Smile

AngelaScandal · 24/04/2020 19:59

@Skyla2005 Choice is now between Summer and Elodie I think.

There have been so many lovely comments about Elodie. I'm absolutely delighted. Thank you all.

Summer is my favourite girls name ever I wish I’d had it x

Orphlids · 24/04/2020 19:25

I think it’s nice. Very pretty. I expect it’s going to shoot up the popularity charts soon though.

Flymetothestars · 24/04/2020 19:25

I don’t really have an preconceived ideas about what kind of personality an “Elodie” would have but I find the name very gentle sounding. Lovely.
