Arthur or Rupert?

Hello

After much deliberation I think DH and I have narrowed our boys list to Arthur or Rupert. We like both these names.

My concerns are:

  1. Arthur is suddenly super popular - he will be one of many Arthurs in his class; and
  2. Rupert is persevered by some as pretentious. I am aware of the army slang term.

Really welcome your thoughts. We did have Albert (Albie) on the list but think Albert is maybe just a bit too out there for us.

Thanks

I’m playing Red Dead Redemption 2, so it’s just got to be Arthur. Fabulous name.

Rupert. Who is cooler than a Watcher?

I think Rupert is lovely and much underused - Arthur is the opposite.

Both fantastic choices. Great boy names.

I have 2 relatives in law, one old and one little, names Arthur.

Arthur could be nn'd Artie ?

If you like Rupert how about Reuben?

Best wishes.

Re. perceptions of pretention around the name Rupert - unless you loudly talk about the make of your handbag/car or about choosing schools/horses/winter resorts you'll be fine :-P

Of the two, Arthur. I don't think Albert is any more 'out there' than either Arthur or Rupert at all, and it's much nicer than Rupert.

Rupert!

Arthur is a little dull imo.
