I prefer Aaron to Aiden.
I prefer the way you pronounce it rather than the biblical way.

Easilyanxious · 23/04/2020 00:40

Aaron and wild pronounce how you do but don't dislike Aidan either
Not many Aaron's around at moment I know of only slightly older ones

howells · 23/04/2020 00:40

I like them both- in fact both were on my list (dh vetoed them though). But I prefer the traditional biblical pronunciation of Aaron (Airon) and the traditional spelling of Aidan (as in St Aidan). Not that I am particularly religious!

Astronica · 23/04/2020 00:37

Aidan

123Dancewithme · 23/04/2020 00:33

Aaron is lovely

Wheresthebiffer2 · 22/04/2020 22:52

Aaron the Aligator - in one of my favourite books as a child. Aaron went on the escalator. :-)

Jossina · 22/04/2020 22:47

Aidan

champagneandfromage50 · 22/04/2020 20:36

Not a fan of Aaron...prefer Aidan not Aiden.....

Blursula · 22/04/2020 20:33

I’ve never once heard Aaron pronounced anything other than Arron. Unfortunately, there were a lot of Aarons at school who were naughty, so in my mind it’s a bit of a naughty boy’s name!

I much prefer Aiden.

My autocorrect just corrected it to Auden, which come to think of it is quite nice.

redbigbananafeet · 22/04/2020 20:32

Unless you're American Aidan not aiden

redbigbananafeet · 22/04/2020 20:31

*Aidan

cptartapp · 22/04/2020 20:21

Aidan. But prefer Adam I have one or Evan.

RingaRosie · 22/04/2020 20:17

I never would have thought of Aidan in the Kaiden, Jaiden sense... I can see it now, with the Aiden spelling.

FrownPrincess · 22/04/2020 20:13

I prefer Aidan.

How about Adrian? It sounds stronger, and is definitely due a revival.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 22/04/2020 19:54

Aaron. My first love and the nicest man I've ever known. I'll always have a soft spot for the name Aaron.

emilybrontescorsett · 22/04/2020 19:53

I think Aaron will get people calling him Air-on, as well as Arr-un.
I don't like Arr-un at all. Aiden sounds too similar to Jaiden and Kaiden I do like Hydn though.

MikeUniformMike · 22/04/2020 19:52

Aaron and Adam tend to make me think that the parents started looking at a list of names and picked the first name they came across. Of the two, I prefer Adam, but Aaron is ok.

Aidan is nice but tainted by the Jayden, Kayden.... trend.

Spied · 22/04/2020 19:45

Aidan

BabloHoney · 22/04/2020 19:42

Both are lovely, would say Aaron nudges it! We thought about it for our second boy but it was a bit similar to our older son’s name. Good luck deciding!

Carouselfish · 22/04/2020 18:27

Prefer Aaron as Aiden sounds like the thousand other Jayden, Caiden, Hayden names out there - I know it's older and not made up/surnamey but it's just the sound.

LucyFox · 22/04/2020 18:24

I like Aaron (especially with the Air-on pronunciation) but it’s far more common that Aiden/Aidan

I think Adam is under used too

idril · 22/04/2020 17:57

Aidan but please spell it with "an" at the end rather than "en" which is the anglicised version of the Irish spelling.

daisypond · 22/04/2020 17:56

Yes, if it was Aaron, it’s Air-on.

Howtotrainyourhamster · 22/04/2020 17:55

Aaron but only with the traditional biblical pronounciation (Air-on).

Otherwise Aidan.

daisypond · 22/04/2020 17:52

Aidan by far.
I wouldn’t consider Aaron.
