Hi all, we are expecting our little girl in August and LOVE the name Sienna but one thing that is putting us off is not having a shortened version as a nickname! Is this stupid? Also, if you know a Sienna, do they have a nickname? Hmm

The 2 I know get called ‘cease’ but it’s never written down like that.
It’s a nice name

I know a Sienna, she is always called Sienna. It is perfect. Doesn't need shortening.

It's a 3 syllable name. And it's lovely. Why does it need to be shortened😳

Elouera · 19/04/2020 21:38

Why does she need a nickname? My name was chose specifically so it couldn't be shortened to anything. If you feel the need to have a pet/shortened name for your child, it could be anything, and not necessarily related to the name.

I know 2 Siennas neither one gets shortened

daisypond · 19/04/2020 21:31

Personally, I prefer names that don’t easily shorten. You could shorten to Enna. Or Sia. But Sienna is nice just like that.

Psychoseverywhere · 19/04/2020 21:04

CeCe is what my neighbours grandchild is referred to as.

Jamiladodger · 19/04/2020 21:03

The obvious one is Sisi. I think of sissy when I see sisi because of the S and prefer Cici. Cienna isn't quite right though.

You could always call her Enna, Si (pronounced like the Italian for yes).

Congratulations

My auntie is called Sienna and we’ve always called her CeCe or Sissy . Lovely name no matter what you choose x

daniellelaurak · 19/04/2020 21:02

I know a Sisi

Pannacottaformeplease · 19/04/2020 21:01

I know a Sienna and her nickname is See-saw

NuffSaidSam · 19/04/2020 20:59

It depends on your preference really. I like a name with a NN personally, but if you love Sienna I wouldn't let it put you off.

Sisi (cee cee) or Sissy are name based options. Or maybe a NN will spring up organically, nothing to do with her name.

87Callista · 19/04/2020 20:55

You could always call her "CC" if you need a nickname.

I think Sienna is beautiful, it feels summery. I don't relate to the urge to shorten it.
