What's your opinion on the name Eden?

I liked Eden for a boy - it was traditionally a boy’s name - but we had another girl, then my brother called his next child Eden as a girl’s name and I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for her :)

bruffin · 20/04/2020 23:46

Awful , American toddler pageant name

fungster · 20/04/2020 23:44

I love it - had my younger son been a girl, he'd have been named Eden.

UnderTheIroningBoard · 20/04/2020 23:43

I knew an Eden when I was at school and she was a cow, so it's forever tainted for me.
Shame, as it's actually a pretty name, I just see her face every time I hear it!

CrocodileFondue · 20/04/2020 13:04

I like it for a girl but I'd be concerned she'd end up as just another Edie to add to the throng at the moment. Most of them seem to be Edith or just Edie but it's getting a bit overdone.

Not so keen on Eden for a boy but probably just because I've only known it for girls.

jaoler · 20/04/2020 12:41

If I had another boy he'd be called Eden!

BrooHaHa · 20/04/2020 12:40

I know a male Eden, parents very well-off.

SylvanianFrenemies · 20/04/2020 12:39

Know a couple of boys called Eden, and I really like it. It is a traditional name, so don't see why people would regard it as "chavvy".

Only heard of it for a girl recently, quite nice, but I do think if it as a boy's name.

Whatsyourflava · 20/04/2020 12:35

I think it’s lovely for a girl or boy ❤️

bxua · 20/04/2020 12:29

I've only met a boy called Eden and I thought it was really unusual and quite nice, so I thought I'd hop on here and ask you all, thanks for the opinions!

I like it and think it suits any gender.

MadameButterfingers · 20/04/2020 08:53

Chavvy as f**k. It'll be Ede.
Edie on its own is much prettier.

ElizabethMainwaring · 20/04/2020 08:17

An old friend of mine has a four year old boy called Eden. When I met her a couple of years ago, I'd never heard it as a name before. I thought it was unusual but not daft. I like it. It's fresh. It is also a good name for any age.

knightlight · 20/04/2020 08:16

Very pretty for a girl.

Never came across it as a boy's name but quite like that too.

Roselilly36 · 20/04/2020 08:14

Girls name for me, I like it OP.

WindFlower92 · 20/04/2020 08:11

Love it for a boy!

Lordfrontpaw · 20/04/2020 08:09

I’ve only met Eden’s that are in very religious (Jewish) families.

babynamelover · 20/04/2020 08:05

Sorry another in the don't particularly like it camp.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/04/2020 07:59

Don't like it. Think it'll date really badly.

ISawATiger · 19/04/2020 23:20

Really dislike it, sorry. Sounds so ridiculously try hard. Reminds me of that awful American reality series "Eden's World" about a spoilt little pageant loving princess, who thinks the world revolves around her because.... "It's Eden's world!" 🙄 And for a boy... I... Just.... Can't... Surely no one would do that!?

Mrstwiddle · 19/04/2020 23:16

For a boy, no way. For a girl, it’s ok, not great.

123Dancewithme · 19/04/2020 23:14

Also don’t like it because of the Garden of Eden.

Iflyaway · 18/04/2020 23:31

Lovely name as such....

He might grow up with the nickname Garden though. Sorry.

CaitlinEJ · 18/04/2020 23:29

Love it for a girl!

whatausername · 18/04/2020 23:28

Dissenter here: I really dislike it. Makes me think of the Garden of Eden, a bloody awful story about how women are the root of all sin which has been used for millennia as an excuse to declare women as an evil that needs to been beaten back and controlled.

Sounds pretty-ish though. As always, an opinion is only an opinion.
