I have lupins growing in my garden. They have pretty pink, purple and sometimes white flowers. I would not use the word for a boy's name.

I'm also reminded of 'The Diary of a Nobody' by George and Weedon Grossmith. At least the Lupin in that was using his middle name and,yes,he was a twerp . His first name was William. Very funny book though.
Ridiculous name for a boy...may as well call him Rose or Daisy.

Its a type of flour made from a bean! Like calling him wholemeal, spelt or multiseed!!!

I agree, he'll be called 'Loopy Lupin'. I like names a bit different, but this is a no from me.
