Any thoughts on these names? Ideally I'd love to hear why you like or dislike them. Also, if there are 5 in your child's nursery approximately where in the country (or elsewhere) that is. Thank you!

Laura is a lovely name. Was v popular though as I was growing up. Sophie is also lovely but again has been popular through the years. Not that there’s anything wrong with choosing a popular name; they’re well-used for a reason!

Cora is ok, inoffensive enough, but reminds me of apple cores and is quite harsh-sounding. I prefer Dora.

Alternative Cleo

Whatsyourflava · 13/04/2020 09:02

Love Cora , never met one
Infact love all three of your names. Favourite probably Sophie. I’ve not met a baby Sophie.

ACertainSupermarket · 13/04/2020 09:01

Cora. Lovely and unusual.

Starlight1243 · 13/04/2020 09:00

Sophie is by far the best I have a daughter called Sophie who's 6 shes the only one in her class.

I love Laura and Sophie. I know they were very popular a while back but they just always feel lovely to me. Laura is my favourite I think. I just don't like the sounds of Cora. I know a 5 yr old Laura and a 10 yr old Sophie.

Bluntness100 · 13/04/2020 08:52

Laura for me, classic and pretty name.

Chocolatecake12 · 13/04/2020 08:52

Cora is my favourite out of your choices and the least popular I would say.
Sophie is a lovely name but very popular and added with the Sophia’s I think you’d come across many.
Laura seems dated to me but is still a nice name. Lauren seems a bit more modern but still more 90’s than now.

Lou670 · 13/04/2020 08:52

My youngest daughter is called Laura. I love it as it is not popular in her age group (she is now 18). She was the only Laura at her primary school. I love the name Sophie. Cora to me seems a name I would associate with an elderly woman. I think there was a Cora in EastEnders (Tania's mum).

Miraclescometrue · 13/04/2020 08:51

Sophie.

Don’t like Cora at all.

Petiolaris · 13/04/2020 08:50

Cora. Or possibly Cara?

Emthebaker · 13/04/2020 08:50

Cora always reminds me of the little girl from Titanic who Jack dances with! I think it’s really beautiful. I do know what you mean about it rising.. I was dead set on the name Arthur for a boy since I first heard it ten years ago at the age of fifteen, had a little boy last year and it’s a Top Ten name! I know one other Arthur in our sensory group, but it really doesn’t bother me, so you just have to weigh up how much you’d care I suppose Smile

LizzieAnt · 13/04/2020 08:48

I love Cora too. Laura would be my second choice.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 13/04/2020 08:31

I like Cora. Laura seems a bit 80s to me and Sophie is a bit overused (since the early 90s!)

trinity0097 · 13/04/2020 08:30

I love Sophie and Laura, both classic timeless names.

Cora on the other hand, never heard it as a name and I’m a teacher. Sounds made up and trendy!

cerropotosi · 13/04/2020 08:29

Thank you @BabynameKiwi. Yes that is my feeling about Cora too. I'm just a bit worried it'll become super "trendy" (it's just outside the top 100 in the UK right now but on an upward curve).

My favourite of the three is Cora.
I live in NZ and know many Sophies but they are all between 10-20 it was really popular here that many years ago :). Laura seems to be more of an older person name here too most are over 30. But Cora seems very young and fresh and girly without being cutesy- yet to meet one but there was 50 born here last year and 49 the year before.
