I’m not a Charlotte but I have a name that starts with the Shar sound.

I never liked being called Charlie, don’t mind Char but I’d quite like Lottie.

It’s a lovely name (Charlotte that is)

Umnoway · 15/04/2020 11:04

It’s inoffensive and unremarkable, not the sort of thing I’d go for but it’s perfectly acceptable.

Dyra · 15/04/2020 10:40

As a Charlotte, imo it's the best name anyone could pick for their baby girl. Grin Ignore all the meanies.

It had lots of nickname potential too. I go by Char, Charl, Charlie, Shallot (Spanish colleague struggled to pronounce Charlotte, I thought it hilarious so I rolled with it), as well as the full Charlotte. Never Lottie though, as I don't like it.

My middle name is Louise, which is my Mum's name. DD (whose name has been suggested as a middle name by a couple of PPs Grin) has my name as her middle name. Meant DH and I only had to pick one name.

Otherwise, if I had to choose a middle name for myself, I do like the floral/plant based names. Like:

Rose
Iris
Daisy
Holly
Lily
Willow
Violet
Poppy

It's nice enough.. not particularly remarkable if I'm honest. Nice that she can be Lottie if she wasnt keen. If you really like it then go for it.

aneliese · 13/04/2020 15:25

It's a beautiful classic name with lots of potential cute nicknames. It's on my shortlist!

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/04/2020 14:59

@peachypetite Rose is a simple and beautiful one syllable name that people like. Some people like it. Just because you don't does not make it boring or bad.

I dislike and find really pretentious some of the more popular names that people are using at the moment (and think they are the only one!). But everyone has their own choices and I would never say something horrible about them.

sel2223 · 13/04/2020 14:20

Not the most 'out there' or original but a beautiful, timeless, elegant name nonetheless and one which will easily grow with your child from baby to adult.

emmathedilemma · 13/04/2020 14:17

Classic, very sound!

Fifthtimelucky · 13/04/2020 14:12

I love Charlotte.

Don't use Anne as the middle name!

MsJuniper · 13/04/2020 08:26

Middle names could be:
Lily
Matilda
Clementine
Sarah
Jessica
Nora

Really I like a family/cultural connection for a middle name - do you have any significant girls' names you could use?

MsJuniper · 13/04/2020 08:21

Beautiful classic name. I know one child and 1 adult with this name and they are both Char (shar) for short but usually known as Charlotte.

Spied · 13/04/2020 07:50

Bore

daisypond · 13/04/2020 07:48

I’m not keen.

redwoodmazza · 13/04/2020 07:46

Our son's girlfriend [for 6 years] was a Charlotte - known as Char [that's prounced shar!]

pilates · 13/04/2020 07:21

Lovely classic name.

I like to use a close family name for a middle name but think pretty much most names go with Charlotte.

ItsMsActually · 13/04/2020 07:19

Why is the default middle name always Rose now?

Exactly this! I actually know a Charlotte Rose... Snore!

peachypetite · 13/04/2020 07:13

Why is the default middle name always Rose now?

DorothyBastard · 13/04/2020 07:02

It’s boring

ItsMsActually · 13/04/2020 06:58

It's neither here nor there

Magicbabywaves · 13/04/2020 06:55

Rather dull.

Spirali · 13/04/2020 06:51

Strongly dislike Charlotte but I LOVE Charlie and don’t mind Lottie.

As for a middle name, I’d need more to go on. Do you want something more unusual? Do you have a long or short last name?

JustStayHome · 13/04/2020 04:17

The child maybe called charlie or Lottie by others instead, if you dont mind this, then go ahead...

I personally only know 1 Charlotte

AfterSchoolWorry · 13/04/2020 04:12

I like it, but it is blah.

sunshineandshowers21 · 13/04/2020 04:09

my favourite name. it’s my sister’s name and i’ve always wished it was mine instead. i used it as my daughter’s middle name.

dorapie · 13/04/2020 04:00

It's nice but very blah and there are a huge number around.

In my NCT group three out of nine couples used the name.
