Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You sound like Katie Hopkins Grin

She never asked for opinions once - please work on your reading comprehension. You’re making yourself look silly when your intention is clearly to mock and belittle others.

I know three little ones named Atticus, it’s very popular and hardly strange! Maybe, if you spent a bit more time socialising and less time making fun of children’s names behind a screen, you’d see that people are no longer willing to be pressured into naming their children names that they don’t love because they’re scared to go against the grain.

You should try being kind to someone today, you wombat, it might cheer you up Smile

She asked for opinions onnames that were ‘a bit different, like Finnick’ - as if the children’s names were fashion accessories - and that’s what she got. Grow up.

Orion! Atticus! Castor! Poor kids, saddled with names like that. Do people think that giving their children strange names somehow makes them, the parents, look clever or creative? It doesn’t work.

Emthebaker · 13/04/2020 08:23

‘You shouldn’t ask questions online if you can’t deal with other people’s views.’ OP didn’t ask for opinions on the name Finnick! And @Elly88 is right about people on this site so often being awful to anyone who didn’t name their children Peter and Beatrice.

I think Finnick is a great name (not that it matters!) I think it’s go well with:
Orion
Atticus
Wren
Noah
Castor
Bennett

Good luck Flowers

...not one person I've told my sons name to has ever said anything other than that's such a cool name I love it.

Well, no, people tend not to overtly say ‘why did you give him such a silly name?’ IRL to the mother who chose the name. They just think it and express their opinions to other people.

You shouldn’t ask questions online if you can’t deal with other people’s views.

That’s a great idea about James and the Giant Peach. Anyone out there with a child called James: call your next son Aunt Sponge.

mathanxiety · 13/04/2020 07:08

Have any names caught your eye so far, @Elly88?

Elly88 · 13/04/2020 07:06

Thanks for the serious suggestions, safe to say its the last time I use this website. What is wrong with people being so judgmental?! Wasn't asking for opinions on my current sons name, yes it does feature in the hunger games, it also actually features in a Disney film too, either way it's a name in its own right, do your research if you want to insult someone's name! I don't really think it's that outrageous as there are so many variations of the name Finn now - Finnbar, Finnegan, Finley, Flynn, Finnian etc.
If you picked the name James I wouldn't go listing all the other characters from James and the Giant Peach. What is wrong with people?! At a time like this, amazes me that people still can't just be kind. All so brave from behind your computers yet not one person I've told my sons name to has ever said anything other than that's such a cool name I love it. Funnily enough, I don't want the whole world to be full of James and Daniels etc, not like I called him Wednesday!! Don't see the problem with giving a person a slightly more unusual name. And if he hates it he can go by Finn?! Now either get back to the task if you wish of suggesting serious names or keep on scrolling please.

Finnick and Lachlan

Iamthewombat · 13/04/2020 01:11

For the love of God, and for the kid’s sake, not Auric or Crusoe (suggested upthread).

Iamthewombat · 13/04/2020 01:09

I was just coming on to suggest Haymitch but @Dyrne beat me to it!

Why not go wild and call the kid a normal name? I’m just spitballing here: Tom, James or something? Talk about revolutionary.

Finnick is Hunger Games isn’t it? Quite nice though.

How about Finnbogi? (actually a proper name).

So Finnick is not actually a name, but comes from the Hunger Games? Just pick another name from the movie/book.
