Why not? If you like it, go for it. I prefer Floris.

AMomHasNoName · 14/04/2020 13:04

Floris= No
Florus =No

RishiSunakFanClub · 14/04/2020 12:55

Awful

toughgetsgoing · 14/04/2020 10:09

Odd name

simonisnotme · 12/04/2020 18:37

good grief, where the hell are these weird names coming from/being dreamt up.
OP would you like to be stuck with a name like that all your life ??
No ? then why lumber your kid with it !!

bookworm14 · 12/04/2020 18:11

Is there a weird ‘Flo’ troll doing the rounds? We’ve had Floris, Florus and Floriè now. What a weird thing to troll about.

whatausername · 12/04/2020 18:06

I don't think it'd work all that well in the UK unless you're in an exceptionally diverse area. As someone said unless you can guarantee he's handsome & brooding it's going to seem a bit rubbish. Perhaps time to let this one go?

seltaeb · 12/04/2020 18:05

Definitely not.

BackforGood · 12/04/2020 18:04

awful

VenusClapTrap · 12/04/2020 18:02

I like Floris and Florian. But not Florus.

Bouncingbelle · 12/04/2020 01:54

I'd thinkyou were being cruel to this baby.

Buttercup54321 · 12/04/2020 01:43

Horrible.
Fabian?

duletty · 10/04/2020 20:17

Why?

ncqtime · 10/04/2020 20:04

Floris in Dutch would sound similar to Morris not the English floor-uhs

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 10/04/2020 19:52

Flor... for boys names in general are not move . Stop asking about different ideas of the same name. Yesterday was Floris, today is Florus, please don't say Floras or Floros tomorrow. Because none of them are good

littlemeitslyn · 10/04/2020 19:44

Yuck

Enough4me · 10/04/2020 19:43

Florian or Floyd are ok.

HarrietTheShy · 10/04/2020 19:40

I've known a Flor. He was lovely.

Justkeepleft · 10/04/2020 19:26

Floris is a popular name in the Netherlands so not made up.
In the end once you name your child it is their name and people get used to it.

123Dancewithme · 10/04/2020 19:14

I think you will get similar opinions to those you got for Floris!

daisypond · 10/04/2020 19:09

Didn’t you just ask about Floris?

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 10/04/2020 19:03

Sounds like a vagina infection.

And, before you ask, Floras is also not great, and neither is Flores.

Floros?

DeeCeeCherry · 10/04/2020 19:00

Only if his surname's Virus

TwilightPeace · 10/04/2020 18:59

Please don’t.

florascotia2 · 10/04/2020 18:58

OP As I'm sure you know, Florus was an ancient Roman cognomen (nickname that became hereditary, almost like a surname). It means 'flowery', which many people might not think of as masculine - though of course many expert gardeners are men. It became the basis of several male names that have been used in Europe, though not usually in the UK, where the root Latin word - Flos - has become very closely associated with the female names Flora and Florence.

As well as Floris, already discussed, there are male names Florent, Florentin, Florian, Florianus, Florin... Florian is probably the best known.

Florian is rather a nice name; so is Florent.
