I like Lynn/lynh names but can't decide the spelling..
Which do you prefer?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

What Villanelle said.

CodenameVillanelle · 10/04/2020 10:58

Ok
It's a Vietnamese name. Apologies to any Vietnamese people I've offended. When a poster comes on to a uk baby name site and says what about 'normal U.K. spelling of commonly used name' or 'apparently totally made up an non phonetic spelling of same name' they are going to get the piss taken. It's not the same as someone coming and saying 'we are Vietnamese, we like Lynh, it's a Vietnamese name, what do you think'?

Ruddle91 · 10/04/2020 10:11

Why not add a silent k at the beginning - Klinh

AcrobaticCardigan · 10/04/2020 09:58

“What the fuck is Lynh??”

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Orphlids · 10/04/2020 09:58

@Blursula, spot on. I can’t believe my eyes sometimes. How odd to think they get pleasure from these small acts of unkindness.

Abracad · 10/04/2020 09:45

Neither

4amWitchingHour · 10/04/2020 09:42

I know a Lynn in her 20s - it's pretty lame to think a name belongs to one generation

Ineedabreak19 · 10/04/2020 09:33

Pile on

Ineedabreak19 · 10/04/2020 09:32

The op should have said that she was considering the Vietnamese spelling for the name. Have you got Vietnamese ancestry op? Mentioning that would have prevented the pile......

Blursula · 10/04/2020 09:25

It’s Vietnamese. God there are some bloody vile people on these threads.

ilikebigbuttsandicannotlie · 09/04/2020 23:43

Lynn if you’re going to pick one of the two.

It’s an odd choice though. It’s like calling a baby Debbie or Glenda.

BroomstickOfLove · 09/04/2020 23:04

It's not a made-up version. It's just a lot more common in Vietnam than it is in the UK.

Thisismytimetoshine · 09/04/2020 22:26

can't decide the spelling
You can't decide whether to spell it correctly or make up your own version??

123Dancewithme · 09/04/2020 22:24

Lynh? I’ve never seen it spelled like that before!

Lynn is boring and dated.

CodenameVillanelle · 09/04/2020 21:34

What the fuck is Lynh??

AngelaScandal · 09/04/2020 21:21

@broomstick

Never heard of the Hmong. Every day’s a homeschool day

BroomstickOfLove · 09/04/2020 21:08

Lynh if you or your family are Hmong or if it is particularly meaningful to you in some way. Lynn if you just like the name, plan to raise your child in the UK and want a name that people don't spell wrong all the time (although people will probably go for Lynne some of the time). And if you aren't from the UK, you should probably be aware that Lynn is a pretty unfashionable name at the moment.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/04/2020 20:54

Lyn or Lynne. WTF is Lynh? You may as well spell it LiiiiinnN for all the sense it makes 🙄

TheWordmeister · 09/04/2020 20:52

Lynh wears a cardiganh

Grin

Why on earth would you even consider Lynn? It's the dowdiest name ever.

And Lynh is just idiotic.

zen1 · 09/04/2020 20:49

Lyhn? Wink

FeedMeSantiago · 09/04/2020 20:45

Lyn, Lynn or Lynne. Lynh autocorrects to Lynch...

Lynette, or Evelyn, as suggested above are much nicer. I don't think Lynn itself is ready for a comeback yet.

Oakeyy · 09/04/2020 20:30

100% Lynn.

Stormblessed · 09/04/2020 20:27

Definitely Lynn

NewName54321 · 09/04/2020 19:58

Lynne - possibly, depending on the surname.

Or Carolyn, Madeline, Lynda, Gwendolyn

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 09/04/2020 19:40

Lynx, with a silent X
