C-section tomorrow and still no idea on what this little lady’s name is.

What’s your vote?

Thanks in advance 😊

@LarkDescending Sylvie is beautiful and is our DD1s name. So you’ve hit the nail on the head in terms of our taste!x

If you like Etta and Ada, how about Eda? Edie is sweet as a nn.

It’s all very close to the very popular Ava/Evie vibe though, so if you are concerned about that you may want to go in a different direction.

Sylvie?

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:01

Ada is number 65 in the chart, so not exactly top 10 or anything but still much more commonly used than Pearl which is outside the top 200.
I personally love the name Ada and popularity probably wouldn’t put me off but have a think if it would bother you. There are quite a few similar (ish) names to Ada that are fairly popular too.
Having said all this, I go to a lot of baby groups and have never met an Ada yet @Sheshallbenameless1

Myfriendanxiety · 12/04/2020 10:01

I like Ada, it was on my shortlist.

I like Etta, but don’t like the others. Pearl and Olive are too old lady and not pretty enough.

My shortlist also had in case it helps;

Iris
Emmeline
Clara
Annabelle

Congratulations!!! 😍😍😍 Pearl sounds perfect for her, I like pearl Ada or Nancy pearl

finallychangedmyusername · 12/04/2020 09:51

Congrats OP! Ada is ok, but there will be lots of Avas of a similar age, so for that reason Pearl, Nancy, Etta or April feel more unusual.

Suggestions based on your shortlist, if this helps:
Juliet - nn Etta
Adeline or Adelaide - nn Ada (or Heidi is a traditional nickname for Adelaide I believe)
Avril - as alternate for April
Amber - sort of combining Pearl and April? (Sort of!)
Nina
Annie/Anna

Sheshallbenameless1 · 12/04/2020 08:25

Bit of a last minute addition to the party and I think it is becoming quite popular but DH has suggested Ada and it does feel like it suits her.

Do we like? I realise I don’t need to run everything by you lot but I do find the opinions really helpful 😊 x

Congratulations!! Enjoy the newborn snuggles, xxx

Sheshallbenameless1 · 12/04/2020 07:00

Thanks so much everyone!

She’s only teeny at 5lbs 15oz so a delicate little Pearl does seem quite fitting....we’re thinking that that might be her name ❤️ I’ll update when we’ve decided for definite. Really appreciate all the lovely posts and opinions x

All lovely but I think my favourite is Pearl. Good luck.

Riv12345 · 12/04/2020 06:36

So pleased for you well done 🥳🥳

Riv12345 · 12/04/2020 06:34

I cnt see the update!!

What name did you choose?

Hope all went well 💐💐 xx

SE13Mummy · 11/04/2020 22:56

Congratulations!

Are you set on Etta as a full name? I was wondering if your DH might consider Harriet (aka Etta)? With one of his favourites as a middle name?

Whatsyourflava · 11/04/2020 21:58
  • bit of a ...
Whatsyourflava · 11/04/2020 21:58

Congratulations @Sheshallbenameless1 !!!

Love ALL your names apart from April as the “ape” sound at the staff isn’t great and sounds like a monkey - but other a downmarket name
I think 🙈
Etta Nancy and Pearl are so lovely though 🥰
Olive was my favourite too @Rio5555 so I’m sad that’s off the list

Angelik · 11/04/2020 21:55

Congratulations! I'm impressed you posted after c section!

I vote pearl because I've got a pearl. She is beautiful naturally but also affectionate, a quick thinker, decisive, certain of herself in a calm, confident way, can laugh at herself, finds joy and fun in the most ordinary of activities, gives everything her best, takes pride in herself and her efforts, an utter joy.

Whatever name you choose will be perfect for your daughter

Whywhywhynow · 11/04/2020 21:45

Miriam?

I’ll stop now.

BrokenNails · 11/04/2020 21:45

Also just seen your update! Congratulations Flowers

I can't help thinking Nancy Pearl has a nice ring to it Smile

BrokenNails · 11/04/2020 21:44

Nancy 1st choice
Pearl 2nd choice

April and Etta ok

Really don't like Olive (sorry). It's too much of a word rather than a name in my book. Taking it as a literal, olive is not the prettiest colour; it's a (veg? fruit? cocktail adornment?) and it sounds quite masculine especially compared to your other choices.

Whywhywhynow · 11/04/2020 21:44

Meredith?

MayFayner · 11/04/2020 21:44

Nancy or Pearl.

Nancy is my favourite ❤️

Congratulations!

Whywhywhynow · 11/04/2020 21:42

Opal?

Whywhywhynow · 11/04/2020 21:41

Ooh, just seen she’s here. Congratulations!

Whywhywhynow · 11/04/2020 21:41

I love them all...no help sorry... if I HAD to pick, I think Etta is beautiful and Pearl OSs a close second

Mapless · 11/04/2020 21:38

Pearl
