Worried we won't ever decide on a girls name!

4 months to go and we can't decide on a name. I had a long list of boys names I loved but had maybe one girls name, so of course it's a girl! I had a hard enough time naming my first daughter.

I have a 10 year old named Georgia, we live in the US and this name is not as popular as it seems to be in the UK.

Can you help with name suggestions? We don't like common and would like something unique/unusual but not to out there.

Here is our list so far, I'm not sure I even really like any of these I just don't hate them so they made the list!

McKenna
Briar
Harper (I don't like the Beckham connection but no one in the US would really know about this)
Blaise
Ashton (Favourite by a slim margin Smile)
Laken
Reese
Quinn
Harley

Blaise is nice.

The rest of those names sound like the stereotypical American names that we dont 'see' or get.

Eg, McKenna. I think of Paul McKenna the hypnotist.

Harper makes me think of a harpie.

I have very different taste but i like Georgia.

I think a name that is classic enough to sound like Georgia's sister but American enough to fit in with your list.... hmm! Challenge.

If you like surnames, these are softer sounding than harper.
Delaney
Bellamy
Kinsella

Instead of mckenna, kinvara
Instead of Quinn, what about Kim
Instead of Harley what about Shelby (a vintage car i think)
Hayley is ok but a bit bland. Prefer Hazel. Has more charisma!

I love Harper! Such a lovely name

Bryony

Eden
Aurelia

I don't care for the American style names at all.

I like unisex names, though I'm quite ignorant on US names.

Phoenix ? Shiloh ?

Your list does sound a bit surname-y to me, but if that's what you like you should go for it.

Ashton reminds me of a character in "North and South" and it was a female character so I don't see it necessarily as a boy's name.

How about Alexis ? It's a boy's name in my country but I know it's used as a girl's name in the US.

Or, is there a boy's name you love that has a feminine equivalent or similar sound ? For instance, if you like Henry - how about Harriet or Henrietta ?

I don't like any of them to be honest, they all seem very unisex, but if you're in the US, you'll know what works there.

Hero?

I've just suggested this on another thread and it might suit - it seems to me to have tthe same vibe as some of the ones you have, but it's actually a very old traditional female name.

Don't worry - it was 10 days before DD's birth and we still didn't have a name (had a boy's name), when DH poked his hear around the door when I was dropping off to sleep and said 'How about [Name]? I met a [Name] at a party last week and thought it was nice'

And I said 'OK then' - it fit the bill, not weird and unheard of, but not absolutely everywhere, along the lines of the sorts of names we'd liked but discounted for one reason or other (Ottilie - too like 'otter'; Ruby - too ubiquitous; Flora - nice but makes you think of margarine etc!) and it just fell into place.

Your list is Very American.

Is this your taste? In the UK American names (especially those that sound like surnames) have certain negative connotations. I'm not a fan.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Seeing as I haven't found many girls names I like my list was mostly made up of surnames that could be first names or boys names that could be girls names.

McKenna - surname
Briar - ok, quite nice
Harper - surname
Blaise - french boy's name
Ashton - surname
Laken - no
Reese - surname
Quinn - surname
Harley - surname

They all seem to be surnames. Georgia is pretty and feminine but these are quite masculine and harsh.

Is there a name that would tie in your british roots?
Something like a river name or something?

How about a girl's name like Emma or Elizabeth or Charlotte?
