"Our" name was stolen this week...

4 days ago some close friends had their baby boy, and used the name that I've been set on for the last 7 months. Gah! They didn't know that was "our" name, so it wasn't malicious at all. Just coincidence. But it is a really uncommon name, so I don't feel we can still use it (we did that with our other child, gave them an uncommon name that had recently been used by other close friends- so it would look downright weird for us to do it again!)

So now I need an amazing boys name. Or for our baby to be a girl... which would also solve the problem!

I find boys names really hard, and only really liked this one, which is why I've known for 7 months, and not swayed from it. So I can't really give you an idea of other names I like, because if I liked any others then I'd have a longer short list..! But my list was literally 1 name! My husband has a few names he likes, but I don't like the ones he suggests, and as he'd readily admit, he's not terribly set on any name, and usually is happy to go with ideas I suggest. He's just not super fussed about names.

So... please help me find another boys name! (I'd tell you the name we just "lost", but it's rather outing given it's pretty uncommon and my friend's baby is probably the only one born this year so far, let alone this week!)

Thanks for any help!

Find out if your dh let it slip and if he did, use it, as it was their choice to have babies with the same name not yours.

I definitely think your DH has let it slip. Reuben was our boy name but we never got to use it.

Honestly, just use the name you wanted to originally. Who cares who else has used it?
If I was really set on a name I loved for my baby, I wouldn't care if half the world used the same one, I'd use what I wanted. Really.....

I wondered if your DH had let it slip too... Gutted for you. I couldn't use my all time favourite boys name for a similar reason but did find another I loved. I still have jealous pangs though. Are you sure it's as rare as you think? Are you checking or against the Dark Greener names tool?

What about:

Zeke

Elijah
Solomon
