Noah or Loxley?

charliem20 · 24/03/2020 20:38

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. Ever since we found out I'm having a boy, my partner and I have been calling him Noah, but lately we've been falling out of love with the name because of how popular it's becoming.

I found the name Loxley and I fell in love. It's super uncommon, but is it too out there?

What do you think? I'm open to any other name suggestions.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Noah.

Don’t get me wrong Loxley is a lovely village but a name for a human child it is not.

TheWordmeister · 25/03/2020 09:31

Loxley is ludicrous. Don’t do that to a child.

Noah is lovely but totally overdone now.

Kezmum14 · 25/03/2020 09:28

I’ve got a Noah, he’s 16 now and his name wasn’t common at all when we named him. I still love it and it doesn’t bother me that there are far more of them around. 🥰

DoctorBambino · 25/03/2020 08:55

Noah is a great name and although it always seems to rank high in charts I've never met one and I've worked with children for the past 12 years

donquixotedelamancha · 25/03/2020 07:33

Loxley sounds like the baddy from an X-Men film.

Perhaps OP should call him Magneto.

Flymetothestars · 25/03/2020 07:30

Noah is gorgeous
Loxley is just odd, sorry

AngelaScandal · 25/03/2020 07:22

Loxley as in Robin of Loxley? Do you live in Nottingham???

oooompa · 25/03/2020 07:19

Noah is such a brilliant name, there's a reason it's so popular! It's been on my Boy's baby name list since I've been 13 (I'll not be having anymore babies though so will never get to use it)

I'm not too keen on Loxley to be honest, but if you and your DP love it that should be all that matters.

Noah. Loxley reminds me of Robin Hood.

Astronica · 25/03/2020 00:36

Anything but Noah.

Loxley is fine.

user3274826 · 25/03/2020 00:24

Oh I've never heard of Loxley but I love it! Noah is boring these days.

campion · 25/03/2020 00:14

Or Loxley Barrett even Grin

Hope your name's not Barrett OP!

Manyminieggs · 24/03/2020 23:57

Lower loxley?😁

campion · 24/03/2020 23:50

Noah. It's been around a long time for a good reason. And if it's popular,so what?

Loxley is a surname or a place. As is Huxley.

Flordelice · 24/03/2020 23:42

What about Huxley? Although I much prefer Noah to both.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/03/2020 21:59

I quite like Loxley, but It seems a bit forced when I’m saying it in my head. I’m saying Lockly. Lolky. Locksey. Locky.
So I’d go with Noah. It’s a nice normal name It’s easy to pronounce. No tongue twister issues ect.

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 24/03/2020 21:42

Loxley to me is a sub brand of easel

Noah or Loxley?

Lower Loxley? A place in The Archers?

Aside from that it sounds a bit like a pet's name to me (like Baxter)

So I would choose Noah.

RedRec · 24/03/2020 21:23

Loxley is terrible. Noah is nice.

Omashu · 24/03/2020 21:21

I want to like it because it’s unusual and I don’t like common names. But I just really really don’t like it! It’s a bit clunky and sickly to me.

Fairenuff · 24/03/2020 21:18

Would you like to introduce yourself as "Hi, I'm Loxley"?

That's how I decide if I Iike a name or not.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 24/03/2020 21:18

Noah

BackforGood · 24/03/2020 21:15

I think Noah has been quite popular over recent years but at least it is a proper name.

Loxley is awful. Sounds like a surname. Terrible idea.
