Which boys name?

Here’s our list for DS2, a brother for Samuel. Which would you choose?

George
Alexander
Arthur
Jack
William
Jonathan
Matthew
James
Zachary
Max

Any other suggestions? Thanks

I have a Samuel, siblings are Leo and Felix - Leo’s middle name is Alexander so I’d go for that from your list as it was nearly his first name.

Definitely Jonathan! It's so underused, sounds really interesting now, and you have the brilliant options of Jonny, Jon, or the v cute Jonty.

The others are all ok but most are more well-used classics so not as interesting. Jack, Max, Zach definitely overused.

Not RTFT. I really like Samuel (and Samson).
George - yes
Alexander - yes but know lots of them
Arthur - it's ok
Jack - know so many
William - it's ok
Jonathan - I like it and John(n)y
Matthew - yes
James - my favourite
Zachary - currently overpopular
Max - yes.

The one I initially thought of was Daniel, but it isn't on your list. I would choose Max or Jonathan (Jonny/Jonty).

They are all very nice but would go with Jack.

All great names,

George- lovely name, goes well with Samuel but v popular if that bothers you
Alexander- as above but also has some great nn options Xander, Aly etc
Arthur- lovely name
Jack- great but v popular
William- as above
Jonathan- nice name but perhaps a little dated, love the nn Jonny though
Matthew- again a little dated perhaps
James- lovely, goes well with Samuel
Zachary- nice but perhaps not as classic as the others
Max- ditto

Ooh, Samuel is one of my top boys names (sadly DH didn't agree). Angry Grin

From your choices my votes would go to Jonathan, Matthew or Zachary. All well-known but not currently VERY popular names. Possibly Zachary as my favourite at a push. Grin

Although none of your choices are bad!

Other suggestions:
Oscar, Isaac, Joshua, Timothy, Reuben, Peter, Nathaniel, Ethan, Jonah.

George, Jack and William were all on my shortlist so are my favourites.
Also like Archie and Henry.

Yes, we shorten it to Sam and would shorten Alexander to Alex.

I like Benjamin, Edward and Luke from the other suggestions so far. Thomas is great too but is another relative’s name.

Jonathan - a classic but not as overused as some on your list

I also have a soft spot for Jack and Zachary too and I like Alexander but not keen on Alex, I prefer Zander or Alec

I like all of your names. Favourites William, Samuel, George. Least favourites Max, Zachary. Would use Jack as nn i think for Jonathan.
