Serious girls’ names

I’m pregnant again (after many losses and it’s early days so might not work out) and if it’s a girl I’d really like a strong and serious name - not one that ends in “ie” or “a” sounds, and nothing cutesy or frilly or floral.

Any thoughts? My son has a classic Irish name so one that would go with that would be nice.

Catherine is lovey and we know a Cate which feels like a feminine, but grown up name.

Oh I completely agree with you, hate all the Victorian scullery maid names that are so popular and suspect the next fashion in girls names will be for strong grown up names.

I particularly love:
Frances
Eleanor
Margaret
Caroline (nn Caro)
Catherine
Elizabeth

Martha (I know it breaks you rule of no A ending names but I’d say it’s a serious name.) Charlotte. Margaret.

We’ve got a DD called Harriet.
I’m a chunky, very plain and practical person and knew that no daughter of mine would suit a “fluffy” girly name!
DD is now 30 and a very clever, driven, fearless, strong young woman and suits her strong name perfectly! 😁

To go with your son's Irish name: Saidhbh (pronounced Sive). The least frilly name I can think of!
