Holiday for a girl, is it usable? I’ve really got my heart set on it but my family isn’t keen 😭

I prefer January as an out there name.
Holiday, no.
People will constantly ask if she is named that because you conceived her whilst on holiday

I like the sound of it, but sadly my first thought was imagining a bunch of twatish lads laughing about "going on Holiday". I know kids can find almost any excuse to be cruel, but no needs to serve it to them on a plate.

No

Flymetothestars · 14/03/2020 12:30

I like Holly!

Spidey66 · 14/03/2020 12:00

Sorry, i think its a stupid name. Holly's fine, but not Holiday.

rosieposies · 14/03/2020 11:50

Love it! Either spelling looks nice I think.

BreakfastAtTiffany · 13/03/2020 20:58

Haha, I promise to at least consider Holliday with two Ls! Grin

No

shinynewapple2020 · 13/03/2020 14:02

Agree you need to give it the double L - Holliday.

MikeUniformMike · 13/03/2020 13:50

Why don't you use it as a Middle Name.

For first name you could have Summer, Springbank, Bank, ...

TheVanguardSix · 13/03/2020 13:08

I was about to give you a lambasting OP, but I find myself really liking it! Grin
Double L though, all the way. Holliday.

CodenameVillanelle · 13/03/2020 12:57

Or Holly Capote Surname if it's the book you love!

CodenameVillanelle · 13/03/2020 12:57

Holliday Golightly was called Holly. That should tell you something.
I'd go for Holly Audrey Surname if you really want to tribute the film.

MikeUniformMike · 13/03/2020 10:49

Holliday is better.
Middle name:
Monday
Golightly
Wardrobe
Booking...

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/03/2020 19:40

I really like it.

FrankieManca · 12/03/2020 19:39

Dreadful.

The character in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is fictional.

She does not have to live through a lifetime of ‘witticisms’.

Holliday Grainger also uses ‘Holly’. Why would that be?

DameSylvieKrin · 12/03/2020 19:34

I like it and immediately thought of the literary associations.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 12/03/2020 19:29

I actually really like it!

Much better Holliday though- Holiday looks “wrong” as a name whereas Holliday doesn’t.

Goodebe · 12/03/2020 19:26

Absolutely adore it, was on my list... I chose a name my family weren’t keen on, it’s just his name now so be brave and do it!

ForgotwhatIcameinherefor · 12/03/2020 19:19

I agree with others, yes it sounds like a lovely happy name Grinbut please spell it Holliday...
(I wonder would teachers etc think it can't actually be pronounced Holiday, maybe it's said Holy Day)

supercee · 12/03/2020 19:18

I know of a male Holliday, and he's late 30's now. I like it but will the two L spelling.

jollygoose · 12/03/2020 19:16

just bonkers poor poor child

DramaAlpaca · 12/03/2020 19:13

I'm surprised to say that I like it, as long as it's spelled Holliday.

Time40 · 12/03/2020 19:11

I like it, rather to my surprise.

BreakfastAtTiffany · 12/03/2020 18:43

I think we are going to go for it! I do prefer the Holiday spelling, Holliday just looks misspelled to me and I like the association with the word. I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes it though!
