List of names for Reuben’s brother

If DC2 is a boy we’re struggling to pick a name. Our DS is Reuben William (one syllable surname). Please can you rate our boys list and suggest others we might like?

Lovely list OP.

Favourites on your list are: Tobias, Sebastian, Jasper and Maxwell.

I think Lucas, Theo and Jacob would also make good names.

Of your girl list Alice and Eleanor are my favourites.

I think Samson might be a bit difficult to live up to if your ds turns out to be a sensitive type with a slight build. It'd be like calling a shy little girl with mousey hair Carmen.

Delilah had rather a colourful history. A bit like Jezebel.

@Moonshine160 oh wow really love your girl list! Especially Delilah, Iris Eleanor Alice Maeve and Nina 🥰. Don’t like Elowen as much as I think it will get misheard for other names and that would annoy me.xx

Seth is a great name but you can’t use it with Reuben as Reuben and Seth are the brothers in Cold Comfort Farm, a satirical comedy duo of Neanderthal rural basic-ness.

@Whatsyourflava thank you. And in response to your previous questions we are still struggling with girl names too but have narrowed it down more. On the list are: Alice, Eleanor, Nina, Elowen, Maeve, Delilah and Iris.

Do you shorten Reuben to rubes?
Just thinking Tobias gets shortened to Toby or tobes and it all sounds like too many ‘b’s!!!

Douglas is really nice, not a name I’ve considered in the past but I think it goes well with Reuben.

I don't like Sonny as it sounds like a nickname, not a real name.
All the other names on your list are great. though.

I ended up having girls so never got to use any of them.

Jasper -Lovely
Douglas - Fab
Maxwell - Nice enough but I’m not so keen. It will just get shortened to Max.
Tobias - Sweet, I like Toby as a nickname.
Edwin - I like this.
Caleb - Neither like not dislike.
Sebastian - It’s nice but I don’t know if it’s a bit overdone. Like Seb/Sebby as a nickname.
Gabriel - Like this a lot.
Seth - Nice but i can’t not think of the OC.
Hugo - My brother’s name so I’m biased. It’s becoming a lot more common now, I hear it quite a lot but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think it’s losing some of the ‘posh’ connotations.
Samson - Love this.

I like Jasper out of all the names on your list. I have a Reuben but couldn’t really consider Jasper as my OH’s friend has a Casper. Our boy’s name for a second would have been Felix if we had had a boy.
