Thea.
Kind of already decided on it but just keen to know what people's current opinion is.
Only reservation is it's at number 55 on the top 100 name list but I don't hear it that often, but then again have don't know many children so please let me know if it's hugely popular!

It can also be short for Althea. I taught an Althea who went by Thea's few years ago.

I went to university with a Thea. She was lots of fun, so I think if it quite positively really.

I work with children and am yet to meet a Thea. I like it, it sounds like a strong, confident name.

I met someone at a baby class who called her baby Thea... so she could be known as Teddy! Grin

Going against the grain here, but I really dislike Thea. It's a weak and insubstantial name to me, sort of wispy or whispery or something. Not strong at all, anyway.

The difference is Thea is a perfectly nice name whereas Teddy is daft

I love this name and wanted to use it for DD. Unfortunately, DH's family can't pronounce it correctly so it was a no go!!

Love this name! This was on my shortlist for DD.
I know lots of Theo’s but only one Thea, I don’t think it’s that common.

@bobbybluecat not an obsession at all, just a question of it's widely used in schools to peoples knowledge. Having been one of 7 Lucy's in my class growing up it pissed me off, would like little Thea to at least feel some slight individuality if possible.

Not quite sure why I just defended myself to a stranger on the internet Grin

My niece just named her daughter Thea, it's lovely although it does sound a little like a shortened version of my other sisters name which is Anthea

@Thekindyoufindinasecondhand Lucies was Teddy for a girl. People got a bit weird about it.

Thea is nice and I’ve never met one.

Why do you care how popular it is.

What's the obsession with having an 'unusual'or 'rare' name?

If you like it, just use it. Doesn't matter if it's 1st or 1000th in popularity.

I like it. I only know one (30-something, not a baby) and she pronounces it "Tay-A".

@missbpotter I agree usually, but our surname is complicated so want to keep as short as possible.

It’s ok but I prefer a longer name like Dorothea as I feel it sounds unfinished.
