Brother for Greta

Hello! Smile

Just found out we're having a boy - and we find boys names a bit harder! Our daughter is Greta, partly for the Germanic roots (my Dad is German), and surname begins with C, so no names ending in a c/k or they feel a bit unfinished. I also have Scottish heritage and my husband had an Italian grandfather, so I do like the idea of perhaps finding names that speak to our ancestory.

The list from last time plus a few more.. Any input/other suggestions very welcome!

Willem (I love, husband not so keen)
Ned
Hugh
Roscoe
Eamon
Leander
Ned (I like Edward shortened to Ned, but husband doesn't)

ilovepixie - I actually quite like Ansel but would be a poor man's version of the originals

mathanxiety - lots I like but friends have already used!

Thank you all for the input! Lots to consider.

Didn't know that about Ned in Scotland. We're in the Antipodes though so probably far enough away that there's no similar connection.

My favourites have been vetoed so I'll show husband this list. My dad's name appears too, which is nice - and funny as I haven't heard it (with that spelling) outside of Germany.

I know a little Greta and Otto and think the names are perfect together - both slightly Germanic but not unusual enough to be challenging for an English speaker.

I feel that people would not perhaps not
pronounce Willem correctly outside of Germany
Eamon doesn't go together so well with Greta imo

Surprised you would consider Ned if you have Scottish connections. I think NED = Non educated delinquent up north.

How about Seb/ Sebastian.

Are you sure that Hugo is German? The H wouldn't be pronounced in German to give it the same sound. I live in Germany and have never heard of it being used by a native speaker, rather Brits.

How about Gabriel? I always thought that was a pretty good international name!
